There were updated metal gaskets for that, but then they went away for certain models. I would install metal gaskets, even with the potential for another leak, just because changing them would not require all that scraping. I hate scraping base gaskets. All the more reason to warm up thoroughly before revving or riding, I guess. |

I have a drainback kit on all my bikes. I'd have to look at who makes it but it's copper tubes that thread up into the cylinders, and extend thru the base gaskets. Oil drains thru the tube, not the gasket. Cheap insurance for me since I'm infamous for short hops and short warm-ups, especially on my ol' Evo FLHP. Sifton comes to mind as the company. Maybe? |
