The ones I got were white, and I painted them to match the frame with the Buell Graphite grey paint. I saw that quote in another post (the one about the air scoops) and it got me thinking... My soon-to-be XB9 is an 03 and as such has the light grey frame...but the darker (graphite?) frames look so much better IMHO. I don't think any Buell's plastics come in this graphite color, so is the paint mentioned above actually frame paint? I thought my only viable option would be powdercoating...} |

I buy the aerosol cans of all the Buell paint from SMHD/B for my Grater Eliminators. The Graphite gray is exactly the same paint that's on my frame. I've painted my seat supports, headlight modules, and Grater with it. Matches perfectly. |

I repainted a swingarm with the Buell aerosol and am not all that pleased with it. It looks great, but scratches really easily. I think it's meant more for smaller parts. The frame and swingarm are a little to big to fit in a standard oven to bake them. I also agree that the graphite color looks much better. It would be great to have my frame, rails, and tail match, but it's just not worth the time and money for an 'appearance upgrade.' Long live the XBxRS!

Mike, is that gloss black? Have either you or Boyd had the same experiences as Cereal? That's what I'd be most afraid of with the spray paint, chipping and scratching... Also, when you shot the SA/frame, did you totally strip the bike down, or just remove the stuff nearby and tape/cover everything else? |
