Does anybody have any recommendations for some fairly flat/straight aftermarket black handlebars for a 12scg? I'm looking for two things (besides being straight and black): 1) they should be long enough to allow for enough space to mount the clamp-type bar-end mirrors, and 2) I would like them to be the stock diameter so I could keep the Anniversary signature clamp (it's an '08). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! |

I'm running ProTaper SE Carmichaels bars in jet black. I love them. They are more aggressive than stock as far as less rise and pullback. It was pretty much a bolt on deal on my '08. Good luck! |

Chapparral-racing.com has superbike bars that are $12.00 in black. And a few others. Free shipping if over a $100.00 order too I believe. |

Does anyone have the dimensions of the stock bars (width, rise, pull-back)? It will help for comparison sake. I don't want bars much, if any lower, just a little further forward. Thanks in advance. |

Try Clubmans how did you get them to clamp in on the stock mounts. |

Crossroads zero degree rule! Change it to a sportbike. Best mod you can make for hard cornering track use. |

+ 1 on the Azonic low CR I ran those for a year before I went to the Firebolt upper tree, which I also really like. |

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I think I'm going to go with the Pro Tapers as they are most like what I'm looking for. Now, if only there was a way to get those lame dirt bike "graphics" off of them... |

they look like decals. if they're not, repaint them. |

They're not decals, at least not on my bars. It seems to me that I read on ProTaper's site that the logo is painted on or some sort of high-tech graphic laser transfer convergence system thingy... Pardon my rambling, but I'm sick and just came from the "I just invented a new "standard" unit!" thread on the quick board. (Message edited by henry_the_8th on February 12, 2008) |

Those pro tapers are quite nice. I think that, or something like it, just might be my next addition.

Spdkls, Here's a close-up. The service guys at my dealership seemed puzzled by them.

If you decide to go with the Pro Tapers, you can switch to the Fat Bars with a clamp conversion from Precision Engineering. They make fantastic stuff! |

Here's a close-up. The service guys at my dealership seemed puzzled by them looks pretty straight forward to me is far as installation goes, welded a mounting bracket to them. easy enough. hows the sitting position. does it feel more forward or are you still more mx style. thanks |

+1 Pro Taper Contour 'Universal Low' Fat Bars w/ Precision Engineering Slim Line (like my ladies) conversion clamp http://www.preeng.com/xcart/product.php?productid= 13&cat=0&page=1&featured Although I would have been happy with the Pro Taper SE (7/8ths) Carmicheal bars if I hadn't screwed up and ordered the Fat Bars by mistake!! |

Spdlks, I am a little lower on the bike. It's a 12ss and I gutted the seat. So I don't think that I am actually putting more weight on the front end seeing as I am sitting lower. However the fella that made them for me has a set on his Lightning and he beefed up his springs. He is an aggressive rider and is somewhere near 200lbs. I weigh about the same so when the fluid in the forks need to be changed I might do the same thing. The feel of riding is so much better than with the stock bars. After putting them on it felt like a new bike. They really work well on the track, you can get nice and low on the bike. After switching from stock duncraps to Coarsa III's the bars are the best mod that I made to the bike with seeable results. Hope this helps sean (Message edited by hammeroid on February 13, 2008) |

The weight shift makes a huge difference in how the bike "feels". |

i only weigh about 175 and 6 ft tall. i will be getting a select seat soon or maybe the streetfighter. the cityx seat is nice but a little too high. on the bars, i like the ability to set the clubmans to what i feel comfortable, but i also like the look of the 0 degree xb crossroads, and its not a matter of money either. |

I went with with the clubmans because i thought the crossroads were hideous. Also, not a matter of money. |

The CR low bars put your hands in a dirt bike position, which did not work for me when sportriding. Fine for wheelies, not for grinding through turns, odd wrist angle. |

I would like to get over to a set of sportier bars as well the differance is noticable in the twisties but if I were commuting I think I would keep the stocks |

Not to hijack but I have a few questions on this subject. Which set of stock XB bars are the lowest? Which set are the farthest forward? Also do the clubmans kill your wrist om long rides(say 400- 500 miles)? |
