Does anyone know how to disassemble the mirrors? The nut that holds the mirror to the stem has loosened on me and its driving me crazy. You already cant see out of them at speed, try it when the thing is loose and making noise. | ||

I have the exact same problem. Haven't had a chance to take it back to the dealer yet though. You can see the nut but I am not sure if it is serviceable. | ||

The should have left the mirrors on for all the testing. That way, someone might have noticed that they were not going to work. | ||

Dealer said it is un-serviceable so they are ordering me another mirror but its gonna take a while to come in. Might as well disassemble this one so i know how for the future. What you got Zac? | ||

I think mine may have the same issue....seems like there should be a detent to "lock" the mirror at driving position. the mount at the fairing is like on newer cars, they "brake away" when they hit something. If I get mine in the "right" position, it stays put while at speeds above 45mph. If it is not in "right" position, it will vibrate/swing rearward and become useless. off to the dealer......... | ||

At this point, they should be a warranty issue. But if you did something or you just want to take it apart and modify it... Remove the mirror assy from the bike. Get a pot of water boiling and stick the mirror in the water for 5 minutes, the adhesive is heat sensitive. Get a stiff putty knife to work the mirror off. Pull it out and carefully pry the glass up. As it gets tough, stick it back in the water for a minute or two. Keep the bending stress to a minimum or you'll break the glass, it's thin. Keep in mind, I haven't done this with good glass yet, only a shattered mirror. I'm still waiting for a new one to try this on. The screw that holds it all together is under the glass. Tighten to your satisfaction and re-assemble, perhaps with some threadlocker. Zack | ||

Bobup - I think you have a different issue. I've seen two problems with the mirrors. First, the glass and carrier vibrate in the shell and the carrier for the glass is held on with a screw in the center, under the glass. Foam behind the carrier helps stabilize the glass, but if the screw loosens, your mirror will wander. Second, some stalks are looser than others and won't stay put. Again, warranty if it isn't useable but you can tighten it by peening the rivet at the base mount. I did that to one of mine, it's practically rigid now. Z |
