I have a modification to my S2 in mind, and I'm hoping someone might have tried it before....

I'd like to mount tubular bars on my S2 (as on the the X-1, S1, M2, etc.) I have the upside down front fork, so I got a set of X1 triple clamps. What seems to be a problem here is my White Power forks protrude about 1.5 inches above the top clamp (to mount the clip-ons). With the X-1 top clamp, it appears this will interfere with the bars. I can slide the forks flush with the top clamp, but feel this will adversely effect handling by raising the front too high...

So, my question is if the later model Showa forks are actually shorter, and should I obtain a set of these to do my X1 triple clamp conversion?

Also, I'm aware I'll have to either convert my controls to 7/8" or modify the triples to accept 1" bars.

I've considered making some cstom risers, but prefer a bolt-on stock set-up if possible. Both for speed and costs...

Also, I had a custom tank made, and mounted it to the frame up front. This was necessary, as the ARC swingarm wouldn't go on unless I moved the subfarme rails up. Since the stock tank was in the way of that, it had to go! It's the ultimate oil-cooler!

S-2 front forks are longer,I am in the middle of putting a set on my S-1 and am making some risers 1" up and 1" back for mounting the stock bars.

I think Al has some clamp-risers at American Sport Bike.

Very cool looking bike, I like the thinned-out tail section : )

What kind of bars are you running now?
They look like modified S2 bars?
Did you make those yourself?
That is a unique S2.

Try saving them in MSPAINT. For some reason it compresses them more than most of my other picture programs

Streetfighter-

Like you said, you will have to install shorter tubes if your objective is to install one-piece bars and maintain the look and feel of the current clip-ons you are using. The bars will need to be right on the upper tree.

However, if you are trying to gain some bar height and adjustability, you could try what I did below. The longer S2 forks provided an ideal mounting for the risers I built that adjust vertically on the cartages. I used Brutale bars that are shorter than M2’s keep the height down and can swap them out for drag bars if I want to go lower yet.

About your body, I like the profile trim you made to the tail section; can you post another shot from the rear? I have been thinking of more modifications to a couple of bodies I have laying around and doing something similar.

I am going to take the relief out of the right side of the tank cover like you did and have already raised the rear sub frame struts as in your case. However, I relocated the oil tank to the center “bulkhead” where the circuit breakers and wiring converge and laid down the battery to give more clearance for oil tank volume. The tank I fabricated holds an additional quart more than stock.

Anyway, Back to the body. I have sectioned, narrowed, and tapered the tail sections before but was looking to do something without rear vents and a fairing somewhat similar to yours.

I also was going to narrow (across the width) and thin (vertically front to back) the knee relief area in the body to create more of a Wasp waist to the body.

The bars I'm running now are modified stock S2 bars. They've been cut-down and rewelded. Problem is, I've come to think that a less severe riding position would be nice, and would like something like a standard Superbike or Euro handlebar. It looks like I'm going to have to make upright risers for some 1" Flanders bars or something, as getting new 7/8 control assemblies would have a cost associated, and redoing all of the wiring for the switches would be a total pain! Something to consider if I do that strategy is that I'll have to integrate my gauge mounting into them, and my current set-up sits where bolt-on risers would need to go : ( Ah well, I'll figure something out! : )

As for the tail, I put-up a closer view of that. The taillight is from a Honda Interceptor 500, as I thought it filled the space pretty nicely. I originally came-up with the idea to cut it that way ecause the rear of it was busted-off in an accident before I bought it!

Interesting way of mounting a standard handlebar. Sort of along the lines of what I was thinking of making, only your way looks a little easier to make than what I was thinking of.

Are those handlebar clamping blocks something you made or are they available someplace over the counter? They would greatly simplify what I'm thinking of. My plan is to end up using a stock 1" H-D drag bar with a height someplace between the S2 and S2T heights.

street fighter,,, laughing my but off.. for years i ran a 500 honda interceptor front fairing on my s2t,, as mine was totaled when i got it.. just found that funny.. wounded if any of the other guys use interceptor parts for theirs,, thought i would have been the only one!!!








now she is back to stock fairing,, your can kinda see the billet clip ons i made a while ago.. i have been thinking of making bars that fit my clip ons with a step in them to allow a little more up and back for touring,, but quickly switch back to this position for playing..

Try looking at a stock M2 top clamp for your riser blocks. They are 7/8 but can be bored out to the 1" and incorporate the gauge mount.

I should have thought to mention this before, but I have an exra tailpiece that I've cut to the same shape as what I have pictured on my bike. If anyone would like to make me an offer on it, I'd be glad to sell it. I was going to paint-up a whole other set of bodywork to be able to switch colors, but ended-up giving-up on the idea...

I can't believe the changes you made altered the bike's appearance so much. That's the most agressive looking S2 I've ever seen.
