I almost bought a PS1000. Rode it a couple of times. Very extreme ergos. Fun on the track, sucky elsewhere. |

Nice pic Jim. I can sport tour on the Firebolt, I wouldn't be able to on that. I have found the flooring for when I build/buy a house. http://raleigh.craigslist.org/mat/545672005.html |

Just noticed a strange thing on the Uly. When I turn on the left blinker all is good. When I turn on the right blinker, the lights always blink, but sometimes the indicator on the dash that the blinkers are on does not flash. Any idea what it could be? |

Jim, I had the same problem on the Uly, but it was on the right side. Now I would not suggest the way I fixed(?) it. After the Dragon last year I had to replace two of the three pieces of the module. I still have the original gauge cluster and harness. After I put bike back together that glitch that would happen here and there, went away. So my suggestion is for you to remove the gage cluster. Inspect the Deutch connector for anything that could interfere with the signal, and reinstall. You would know better than me if it looks okay. |

Thanks Carlos, I just looked at the service manual. That connector is easy to get to. |

How far will it go? The Firebolt ran out with ~35 miles on the light. The Ulysses has a slightly larger reserve, but so far has been turning in worse fuel mileage. I predict I'll be using that red can before my lunch break is over. |

34.3 was the magic number this time, I didn't even make it out of the parking lot at work. I added 1 gallon out of the spare can, then rode ~4 miles to the gas station where it took 3.53 gallons to fill the bike the rest of the way. I probably burned about a tenth of a gallon on my way to the gas station, so it looks like the factory spec of 4.4 gallons is pretty accurate. My trip meter was showing 189 miles for that tank, which means I averaged 42mpg. I went ahead and put another gallon in the spare can so I can repeat the experiment next time the light comes on. |

Spike - I managed 35.8 once before it quit, but I sped up to 80mph when it died and coasted a while. The difference when I did it was that I did not have that extra gallon in the saddle bag. Hi Mike W. At I am getting to ride to work. That is about it. I have had a couple off road adventures over the last month on No Seed's DS. That is a whole lot of fun. I do not know when, but my next bike is going to be a DS of some sort. The Yamaha XT225/250 is at the top of the list right now. |

Rachel and I are headed up to the BMW Performance Center in Greer next week to take the road bike course. I was really impressed with the program after taking the enduro course. Six hours on the bike and two in class. Lots of accident avoidance techniques and such. Should be interesting. I've been riding the HP2 just about every day and it just gets mo better, it really makes me grin. I picked up another set of dirt wheels with full knobbies on them. NOw I can have a dedicated dirt set, a set for mild dual sport/general riding/touring (shod with Michelin Anakees), and my track 17's (180/120). For everyday riding touring, and of course dirt, I really like the 21" front. I also scored an almost new set of forks that were reworked by the manufacturer with different springs and valving. I have been more than a little smitten with a really tricked out '05 Ducati 749S that's begging to be my track bike. It's a pretty good deal too ... and only 1300 miles with lots of goodies and spares. Oh Man, my resistance is failing ... and it's red ... last night I had three dreams where I was riding a red Ducati on a road course track. Help. (Message edited by rubberdown on February 07, 2008) |

Ducati's are beautiful. I like the 749 a lot. I like the looks as much if not more than the 1098. |

I've always liked the Red Ducati's. I'm not sure why they even make other colors. Someone told me they get their red paint from Ferrari. The gray paint they get from the hardware store. |

Random Ulysses pic: The header polish is really starting to show now. A few more applications and it'll be about where I want it. The rest of the bike is not black enough yet, but I'm not allowed to spend any more money on it for the time being. I did get approval for a set of Tuono mirrors, so I'll probably ride over to the Aprilia dealer tomorrow. |

Looks good Spike. I need to do the same thing when I install the replacement muffler on the Uly and M2. |

Nice pic! My boy and I have the TW200 Bobber custom project well underway now. I just have to figure out the battery delete which may result in installing a kick starter kit. I need to source a round headlight with a big bucket inwhich to stuff wires, a Buell XB tail light, and a cool speedo and instrument light panel. Throttle response with less restrictive exhaust and intake is improved tremendously (and it sounds like a thumper should). Black and silver is the color theme. Some fun! |

Speaking of dirt bikes, anyone want to buy my '74 MX360 for dirt cheap? Motor is locked up, but even if it was running, I know I would seriously hurt myself again if I got back on it. I'll even deliver it. |
