Well, at least it was not the kickstand's fault! A coworker hit the gas in the golf cart....and it was in reverse. I didn't see it go down, but those that did said that it hit the asphalt like a ton of bricks. It took two men to pick it back up, and took a chunk out of the parking lot surface.
The frame pucks never touched! The four points of contact were the handguard, rider peg and both Dark Horse Moto stealth sliders. Total repair cost was 20 bucks for a new barend mirror. The stealth sliders did their job, even when I wasn't on it! I'm pretty sure the stock peg would have snapped off, but the smaller off road pegs from American Sport Bike just chewed up the asphalt and folded. Hats off to Dark Horse Moto and American Sport Bike for their protective gear. You never know when it will be needed. |

So, now you have an ethical delimma... Can you bill the person that hit the bike for the frame sliders? Or maybe half the cost of them? I'd let it go... but I would have thought about it |

Buell Ulysses modifications aren't any "good" unless they are "Treadmarks Tested Tough". Glad the sliders protected your forks after all the work you've put into the front end swap. |

Hell yeah, bill their ass for it! You get behind the wheel of ANY vehicle you are responsible, golf cart or not. It is a trivial amount of cash to ask for but I would do it on principal. Maybe it will make them remember the moment for a longer period of time and not run into one of us on the road. If that person did not offer to pay for it upfront without you asking then they have poor character. You don't destroy other peoples property and not offer to pay to repair it. -Chris |

if he is a guy of any conscious he will offer it up on his own. +1 on hitting him up as it was his antics that caused it. When I am riding my bike I expect some "wear and tear" I do not expect the errant golf cart to do damage. |

He fessed up as soon as he saw me. He is a good guy and was sorry and wanted to pay. I told him to forget about it and ordered another set of mirrors from ebay. I thought I had straightened everything up, but the bars seem to be pointed to the left a bit. I will strap it to the lift and check it out this weekend. May be in the market for a new set of bars. It would be nice to find a set of aftermarket bars as tall as the Uly bars. |

It might be too obvious, but you might look at most dirt bike shops, the current ones that I see are running 7/8in bars. This would also give you some better color options. How much damage did your bike do to the cart? I assume, yes I know, that it felt embarrassed for just laying there, but did you have to hold that beast back from going after the cart? Sorry to hear bout the damage Tread! Glad it was minimal. I'm also glad I have Dark Horse Moto sliders all around, and a pair of bar ends on the way! (Thanks Keith!) |

Sounds like you need to "relax" the triple clamps. Loosen up the top clamp at the fork tube and wiggle the bars. I had to do this when I dropped my poor X1 on the highway like a tool. |
