Ok, so I made the mistake of having my '03 XB9 put on the Dyno. To only upset me by pushing a mere ~73 ponies to the Sportec M3. This, of course, had to be remedied. At the time of the run, I was running a XB12 air box delete, race ecm and the D&D exhaust. I have since upgraded to the full Micron and added the Dobeck TFI piggyback box to increase my fuel and adjust my flow. So, here's the question, (If you were once in the same predicament that I am currently in.), what do you have your pots set at on the TFI? Is the recommended settings from Dobeck a good starting point? The eVil Twin will be dyno tuned as soon as my guy gets back from Texas next week and I was just curious what those people in my situation had gotten their pots set to for best performance. Any feed back would be great. Rich (side note to Admin, I did post this in the KV three days ago with no responses yet... no one reads those like they do these.) |

Not answering your question, but I'll ask you one. How do you like the Micron? That exhaust is #1 on my list. Do you have a soundclip? I wouldn't get down on yourself with those numbers...that's all they are: numbers. Only good for back to back comparison and seeing the power curve. |

different setup, but if it helps, i had great results with the TFi pots set to the following: 4--7:30--6:30--8:15 mods included K&N, '07 airbox, Drummer and Race ECM. i believe these settings came direct from Kevin, cant remember if i did any tweaking from his recommendation. (slight hijack, but if anyone needs a TFi, my unit is for sale in the classified section) |

What is your exhaust gas reading? (they should have printed it out along with the power curve) - more importantly, what is it reading at a few different throttle positions. You have to use exhaust gas readings to adjust the mixture - and you really need to do a few pulls at a few different throttle positions. Can't learn anything with just one pull at WFO throttle... except the mixture at that one throttle position. A lot of old school dyno operators just don't get that point. |

1324: Fit and finish is outstanding, sound is phenomenal, but that is about all I can give you right now, as the bike is still sitting the dining room.... Typeone: Thanks for the input. Slaughter: I really couldn't tell you. The pulls were done over 6 months ago and I only recalled the HP and Ft/Lbs readings off the top of my head. I will talk to "my guy" when he gets back into town. Is there an ideal exhaust gas reading that should be looked for? (i will use the term ideal loosely.) Rich |

Yes - and the print-out actually puts it out as a horizontal line so you can immediately see if it's above or below the "ideal" line. It's a generalization but it should be something like 13.5 air/fuel. From Dynojet: On a naturally aspirated engine, you'll make best / safe power between 12.8-13.2. Vehicles running "power adders" will need to run a little richer, between 11.5-12.5 for best / safe power. It's kind of confusing to watch it in real time... the BIGGER the numbers, the LEANER it is (higher air/fuel) so when you're making adjustments, you "raise" the line by leaning... "lower" the line by richening. Here's a couple pics from Dynojet's site that kinda show what I'm talking about - and a decent discussion on how you tune for power on the basis of air/fuel: http://www.dynojet.com/motorcycle_dyno/afratio.asp x (click on Air Fuel Ratio tab) GENERALLY, people tend to want to run slightly rich (closer to 13.5) than lean (above 13.5) - lean is "better" for smog - but can be harder on the motor. Your dyno operator can tell you what they typically shoot for at their elevation and temperatures. HD dealers can read the ECM directly into their Dynojet computer if they're experienced.
