I purchased a 2003 XB9 yesterday. The bike has a Jardine pipe on it and I was told repeatedly by two different sales people that it also had the race ecm installed. I even asked one last time when I signed the papers and they said it was in there. Well, its not. It still has the stock ecm. I am going to go in and see what I can get done when they open up, my question is what exactly should I be asking for and what else needs to be done for this new ECM to work correctly? Is there a way to check before I leave the shop with it? Thanks |

Ouch, salesmen will say the darndest things sometimes to make a sale. Is it stated on the sales papers what extra equipment is installed, such as a Jardine pipe and race ECM? If not, then you bought the bike "as is", and it's gonna be your word against theirs as to what it was supposed to have when you left the dealership, assuming you took the bike home. I'd ask those two people who said it had a race ECM how did they know there was one installed. Perhaps they should have taken the time to prove to you that there was one installed before you left the premises. It may be too late for them to make good on that promise now. But, if it's a dealer with integrity, who values your patronage, they should make good on getting you one as a condition of the sale. On the other hand, I don't know if Buell is still selling race parts any more. You may have to look to the aftermarket, like one of BadWeB sponsors, to find one. |

Talk to Al at American Sport Bike and see if he can sell you a custom map for that Jardine. It'll work better then the race ECM anyway. |
