"Doomsday cycles" may be able to do it OMG! I'm "pulling the trigger" on a "Powercommander PC-III USB" and i can't believe how silly simple it is to install! Tomorrow i need to assemble two vacuum gages to Syncronise my throttle bodies |

If we didn't have an "Insider" there I would not have put it in. Tripp has my confidence to get it right the first time around. Joe (I think that was his name...sales bitch up front) is still a TOOL in my book. NOTHING will ever change that... |

uhhh-ohhh..My old "Windows98" notebook likely will not communicate properly with the Powercommander USB..It has a USB port but the literature states early "Win98" software doesn't properly support the USB. If that's the case, what is my cheapest option for communicating/downloading to my new PC-III powercommander? |

find somebody else with a laptop you can borrow. ...not their lap but the laptop COMPUTER!!! You should also check between USB 1 & USB 2 I believe voltage and signaling are slightly different. |

JIM...Get yourself a bottle of MOTUL "Racing Brake Fluid 600" it is like 10-12.00 a bottle. If you have a Vacuum Brake Bleeder it makes life easy. |

...just load xp That might work...but depending on how old the laptop is it may still not work properly if its a USB1 port...not possitive...I'm not the computer wizard. Hey - I'm posting up my search results for a place to stay (I almost typed crash and decided we should stay away from that word) in GA...check it out and let me know what you think.} |

Thanks for the advice Scott.I'll certainly use it today.I'm going to try and put something together to sync my throttle bodies. My cheapest option seems to be a second vacuum gage to match the one i have. But then i'll need the correct size vacuum lines and valving to calibrate.I also remember seeing a mercury stick setup at a local performance shop. That option may be easiest, but a bit more expensive. I'm tired and feeling sapped monetarily with this project. It has to end very soon |

Win98? Holy crap... More than likely, your laptop is going to choke if you try and stuff XP down it's throat. I tried that with my Mom-in-law's desktop PC and then she called me every day for a month because it always locked up. Yeah, that was fun... Borrow Jim's laptop. Just don't look in the folder titled "Jim's gay porn collection." |

Thanks Jim.I'll be here the rest of the day wrenching. But i haven't received my new Powercommander yet.Nor confirmation of my order. I took the easy, but more expensive and much more accurate route this morning. I WAS going to get a second vacuum gage for $25.But was told they need(crude) calibration to each other first. And the needles tend to bounce wildly due to the pulsing. I went to the local Ducati dealer and spent $100 on a Motion-Pro stick type manometer that they actually stock,or as we used to call them...Mercury sticks, but mercury is now outlawed.I can sync throttle bodies accutately.Useless on Buells' though |

I just ran my first datalogging session on ECM Spy-- NO DICE!! Stupid USB port on my stupid company laptop is so flaky that if you even look at it wrong, it'll drop the connection. I thought I had it running, but it must have jostled itself loose by the end of my driveway. The result? A two-minute, 30Kb, corrupted logfile. Any thoughts? Update: I just pryed up the little nubs that hold the USB plug in place a little bit with my wife's nail file. It seems to hold tight now. OK, it was MY nail file. Shut up. I like filing my nails on occasion.Better that biting them. I have a nice narrow "Mill Bastard" (seeing as i'm a "Mill Rat") file for the job. |

Nah, just like bike riding - you don't really forget how and it's only as dangerous as you make it! I feel great today and know spring will get here when it gets here |
