Was trawling through AdvRider (sorry!) the other day and came across this picture posted by Paochow: Now, I'm running my 06 Uly with a nice fruity Remus can, and as such the cable connection to the valve thing (technical term!)on the top of the airbox has been removed. However, the valve thing is still there and connected electrically. If I remove the plug it brings up the red engine warning light. I like the way Paochow has got himself some extra space there, I could use that space, but if I remove the valve thing how do I 'short circuit' the wiring so it doesn't bring on the warning light. I'm assuming that it's not reading anything back to the ecu from that valve now. Another thing, I notice he has extra slots in his airbox cover, is there a 'design' to this, does it have to be done scientifically to allow just the right amount of extra air in, or is it just a question of opening that sucker up! Bike is an 06 model year (UK bike) with a Remus exhaust, stock headers, in fact stock everything else in terms of ecu, air filter etc. |

You could really use the race ECM. It doesnt care about any old exhaust servo. |

If the stock ecm is working for you, there's a cheaper way to get rid of that warning light. Al at American Sportbike has an exhaust servo emulator. It plugs into the servo motor circuit and fools the ecm into thinking the servo is hooked up. |

Muppet, how do? When I first got my Uly I ordered one of them there emulators from an English company which took my money, then went bust (can't remember their name now),I got my cash back through the cards insurance luckily. I've now got the Remus exhaust,a K&N filter and the stock ECU but a Remus Powerizer. The Powerizer is supposed to allow more fuel to the engine to get rid of the leanness,I noticed a flatspot in the fuelling on the m/way the other day (3250revs) which shouldn't be there so am not sure if the Powerizer is doing its job properly (the 'Buell tech' who fitted it at the workshop I take it to (not official HD/Buell dealer) managed to trap the wires between the seat and the frame and then did his 30miles!! test ride and pronounced it fine-hmm). Next time I get it serviced I'll have it checked out,I can't afford it at the mo-it doesn't notice too much in everyday riding. As for the extra slots in the airbox cover,I did them myself and it's dead easy-worth it too I think, you can hear a difference for sure. I should mention that my main source of pictures to help me cut the right extra slots was Rhinowerx Jack-cheers mate, also a PDF of the '07 cover posted on here was the other big help. Hope it helps. So,you still up for a Uly meet/ride in a couple of months time (when the gravel roads you know are useable)? I'm planning to go to the UKBEG Brooklands meeting on 16th March (possibly arranging a ride-in from my area if I can get interest),you going to this? (Message edited by hoon on January 30, 2008) |

Hoon, Thanks for the pictures. Muppet, If you do a few searches on the air cleaner cover (box, etc), you will also come up with pictures of the 2007 cover which many of us have put on instead of doing the cutting. May give you some more ideas for cutting. A couple of members have completely removed the box except for the top to hold and seal the air cleaner. That would give you a lot more space for stuff. |

I was wondering about getting rid of that thing. I mean does it actually do anything being there other then the top piece for the air filter? |

Hey Hoon, doing good thanks. Good pics, thanks for that and for the info, I'll do a search see if anyone here still offers the emulator thing, if not then a Powerizer sounds good. Pretty sure I'll get to Brooklands, I'll firm up with you nearer the time, then we can plan the Salisbury Plain ride. It's gonna be like a swamp over there at the moment with all the rain. Bertotti & Gotj, I like the idea of getting rid altogether too. I might try keeping the sides and cutting out the top except where it seals the filter. Get a bit of storage as well as much more air going in. |

Hi, I bought a Drummer and I plan to use ECMSpy to modify the ECM eprom preventing the dash light from coming on. I think this is a slick way of preventing the light from coming on which I found on the UK Buell Enthusiasts Group forum (Lots of other good stuff on this forum too): http://www.ukbeg.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file= viewtopic&t=24465&highlight=ecmspy Ok I writting this post to help people with the basics. I recommend reading ecmspy FAQ and going to ecmspy website before attempting anything. I made my lead from a Deutsch connector 4 pin female (hard to find in the uk, thanks pashlipops for the spare one) and a special FTDI usb lead check this webpage; http://www.ecmspy.com/steckermontage.shtml Or better yet, ask the likes of sonic or Maz, to buy one of them. I then downloaded the ecmspy software onto my laptop (available from ecmsmpy): http://www.ecmspy.com/download.shtml I also downloaded the drivers for the lead, there is a small chip in the lead that converts the voltage so that it can be used for you ecu and you need this driver or it wont detect it. driver can be found here http://www.ftdichip.com Then I configured that lead com to the lowest one available (in my case com 1). You do this by going into device manager (in control panel/ systems) and selecting the lead properties go to advance and change the com there. You will get a pop up warning but ignore it. open ecmspy and go to the communication options and choose com that you have allocated to the lead. Lift the seat of the bike, plug in the lead into the male deutsch connector near the fuse box, switch on the bike and ignition but don't start it. I would then fetch the maps and eeproms from the ecu and save them before doing anything else. I needed to eliminate the problem with the exhaust valve warning light coming up on the dash ( I installed the micron exhaust which did way with the exhaust valve) so I downloaded the eeprom and changed the value in box as per image below from "0F" to "00" and the warning light disappeared. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f23/alainmengoli /eprom.jpg |
