If the cause is a poor ground provided by the neutral switch or the diodes in the starting interlock, then there would probably be no-cranking episodes happening. Does it start OK in neutral without pulling in the clutch lever when the neutral LED is weak? If so, it could be a malfunctioning LED in the instrument panel or an intermittant high resistance connection from the neutral switch to the instrument panel contact. Unfortunately the LED is a non-replaceable item. If the bike is still under the original warranty, I would think the dealer should troubleshoot the problem and/or replace the instrument panel. |

No it doesn't start without pulling in the clutch. So do you know what i have to look at now as no warranty as over 4 years old. by the way no light starts to appear until engine is started. |

If "no light starts to appear until engine is started" is true, that is a clue that something else is wrong. First of all, you should get the Check Engine Light illuminated briefly if the engine stop switch is set to RUN with the engine off, and the ignitin key switch is turned ON (reading from the service manual). What have you got? Do you know how to retrieve trouble codes stored in the ECM? If so, there are certain diagnostic checks to perform based on info obtained from reading the trouble codes. Back to your starting problem, if you don't get a neutral light when you turn the key on in neutral, you could have a defective neutral switch or a defective diode #2. The diode is located in the fuse block. It might help to carefully remove the diode and reinsert it into its position with the diode's arrow pointing left. Then try the starting routine again. |

Hi thanks it looks like neutral switch has had it pulled the lead off and earthed it and light came on so looks like new switch needed. |
