Just curious if anyone has done the swap and what your thoughts are on the ZTL2 on the XB. --Sean |

My opinion is it would be a waste of money. I can't imagine needing more braking power, when I can already hoist my rear wheel in the air with one finger on the lever. On the other hand, it's COOL to have eight pistons. It's like the Binford 8000 of brake calipers. |

Oh, I don't have any intention of doing it. I don't have the riding skills to merit such a beast. I was just curious since I know it was a hot topic when the 1125R came out. When my stock pads are gone, I'll happily throw on a set of EBCs or Lyndals and be perfectly happy. And yeah, it would be nice to show off eight (8!) freakin' pucks off at bike night, but seriously... Binford 8000 is right, lol. --Sean |

BTW I just installed a set of Lyndall pads up front, and the difference is... only about a MILLION times better than stock pads!!! Way progressive feel, and the sparkly gold color gets the girls all excited. wooot! |

EricZ (the turbo guy) has installed an 1125R caliper on his XB. I will get to check it out later today. |

I am pulling the trigger.... NEVER have To much braking. I have the Lyndalls on my bike now, They faded quite a bit last year while in the GA. Mountains/Dragon @ MB. Once HOT, it became PUCKER time!!! All other times they worked fine though. I wouldn't use them on a track day, but regular street riding they are fine FOR ME.. |

I would agree about the Lyndalls at the track, way too much fade. They do have better feel, but its not worth it. |

What kind of brake fluid are you guys using when the Lyndalls are fading? How old is it? I just ordered a set of Lyndall golds and don't like talk of fade, especially on the track. I've never had fade happen with the stock pads... Actually, now that I think of it, I've never had any of my brakes fade unless the fluid was old or just not up to the task. |

I change my fluid every time I change pads AND/OR Do anything to the brake system. |

You would need to install the 1125 master cylinder if you are doing the caliper. I believe there is a different part number on the 1125 vs the XB master cylinder due to bore size. |

I don't know what you're talking about with the fade as far as Lyndal Gold's are concerned. One finger, back wheel comes up very easily. Nice and progressive, no pulsating, quiet, all around excellent brakes, and they performed excellent in the rain and mud this morning. No break in period at all. |

I have faded the XB brakes. I did this on Lyndall Golds. I replaced the Lyndalls with EBC HH pads AND bled the brakes replacing all fluid. Problem went away. |

Oh great, now we have to have another EBC vs. Lyndall pads debate so I know which ones to get. --Sean |

M1, sounds like you solved your problem by bleeding the brakes, not changing the pads. w/e (Message edited by pwnzor on January 27, 2008) |

The problem again is at the track. Miller is 4.5 miles long with a 4500 front straight. I had bad fade towards the end of the half hour sessions. I haven't had the problem with stock brakes or with any of the bikes in the Buell demo fleet. On the street they work just fine, though they are a bit loud. |

For those that don't know who Pwnzor really is. It should be obvious why one fingered braking is so easy.

I experienced fade on the stock pads but it was during overly aggressive riding. Pretty much like riding at a track. Never during normal operation. Whatever that is. |

Binford 8000? I thought ALL Binford products were model "5100" (as in fifty-one-hundred). Hmmm, I wonder if Tim Allen owns a bike? |

For the track there is only one choice in my mind, the Nissin 804 race pads! I have used the stock and the Lyndalls on the track, and neither come anywhere near the performance of the Nissins. At $80 a pair they aren't cheap, and they DO NOT work well on the street, but for the track they have no equal. And yes, the Lyndalls fade quite quickly on a big braking track like Road America!! And no it wasn't the fluid or a bad system bleed. It was on fresh Motul RBF 600 and a fresh bleed. The Lyndalls are great on the street, but on the track at a spirited pace they do fade. Schmitty |

I had a little bit of fading riding Deal's/Cherohala/Suches. I replaced the fluid with a better quality that had a higher boil point. I haven't had the fade come back. The fluid was the original, and I replaced it at around 15,000 miles. I really love the Lyndalls. I'm sure the EBC HH pads are good too. There is more to the braking system than just pads. Change one thing and other component traits will change as well. Do the Lyndalls provide more heat? If so, that heat will be transferred into the fluid. A fluid on the verge of fading with a lower heat generating pad will show profound fade with a pad that generates more heat. Just a thought. |

I just completed this swap. It was fairly easy and I think around $500 for the master cylinder, caliper, brakeline. Pretty straight forward swap. The hardest part was busting loose the two bolts that hold the caliper on. I think they epoxy those babies in there. A 5/16" allen socket would be my suggestion. The switch for the brake light is different on the two master cylinders so you have to use the switch from the XB and swap it over to the new one. Haven't got a chance to ride it yet but should this weekend. |

Another thing, the Pazzo brake lever will work on the 1125R master cylinder. If anyone was wondering. |

I replaced the fluid with a better quality that had a higher boil point. Hey Bstrd........ What brand/type fluid did you use. I'm about to do both of my brakes and want to change my fluid as well. |
