Does anyone make one? I bought a 6"X18" piece of 16ga steel today at the local hardware store to fab up my own and was looking for some pointers. The plan is now to trace the old onto the sheet and massage the lines a little to beef it up. My original thought was to keep it one piece and bend up the sides but the original broke on the bend and not on the weld. It also looks to be thinner than 16ga so maybe this will work. What have you guys replaced yours with before? | ||

No it's the aluminum one. The can is in fine shape but the bracket that attaches to the can from the bracket that attaches the swingarm to the motor has failed. Broken in half, I'll post a pic later today. | ||

I'm selling a new one in the classified for an S-1. It's carbon with everything you need to mount. $150.  I just checked your profile, it's probably not compatible with the X, sorry about that. | ||

mine broke the same,got a mate in the aircraft repair industry who fabed one for me out of duralloy,then the front mounting tab ripped out leaving a gaping hole in the front pipe??? still got the bracket,replaced the can with a ART one. | ||

I'd really like to have a carbon can, would match nicely but you're right it won't fit. I have been busy since the last post, here's what I've been doing.  This is what happened to the bracket. I laid down the old one on some 16ga steel and marked the holes and outline beefing it up a little. I then cut it out with my Roto-zip tool with a cutting wheel and smoothed it over with a bench grinder. Next I lined up the bends in a vice and hammered it into shape and drilled the holes in a drill press. Just by holding it up it lines up where it should mount to and the dogbone in the bottom lines up to so a coat of paint and it should be ready to go.  |
