A few cars people have mentioned would be added to my list. mid 90's SS Impala PT Cruiser (turbo)/HHR SS Mitsubishi 3000gt (only the VR-4 Spyder) Any RX7 Any Nissan Z 1st generation Scion Xb Audi Quattro Coupe Audi TT quattro Last generation Toyota Supra Someone mention the Cadillac XLR, I don't think that will be a classic, but I do think the the early nighties Cadillac Allante will be. Especially the 1993 "Northstar" model. I agree the Lincoln Blackwood is an interesting choice, I don't know if it will be a huge hit, but... As for the Acura NSX, Corvette ZR1, any 911, etc... I think these are just a given. Infact of what has been mentioned so far, I could see the NSX being the next "Hemi Cuda" For anyone that do not thinks any of these mass produced cars has a chance, just look at the VW Bug. They produced millions of them, but the original survivors are worth a pretty penny. Of course they are not million dollar cars, but who would have thought of a $30k bug??? Or how about a plain jane 1964 mustang. A good condition one brings in plenty. For just fun I am posting a link to Jay Lenos garage. He is reviewing his Honda SM600. Can you honestly tell me you don't want one? Even if it is just for the sound? http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/video/video_player.s html?vid=204774 |

Look back 40 years ago, what are the collectable cars now? None of them were priced out of the reach of the normal man when they were new. The Shelby Mustangs were not that much more than standard. The GTOs The Firebirds How about a Volkswagon Bug? You just bought the standard because of a bunch of different reasons. But there was always some guy down the street that had one. Now what does the new GT40 cost? Or a new Shelby 500KR? They are priced so very few can afford one, they are only dream cars unobtainable, how does a guy in my neighborhood afford one? So the question is, what modern car will be worth a lot in the future? Probably the one that the soon to be named Car Czar approves of. |

Mustang GT with a manual gear box. Most of the dealers won't stock them the one's you see on the road are special order only. |

The '03 and '04 Mach 1 Mustang will probably be collector items in a decade or two. With production numbers at around 9000 for '03 and just over 7000 for '04, they're already rare. The Indy Pace Car Camaro is growing in value, as is the Pontiac Firehawk Firebird. Any car with a V-8 or factory turbo or supercharger will probably grow in value later down the road. The economy will probably have to pick up first before we see any big gains. |

I think the Dodge Viper, Magnum and the new Charger R/T's will all be classic classics on the BJ auction. |

It was 1984, they were desperate, they didnt sell for crap, but man they got and scooted, esp when you took the top off the car (a common redneck weight/power performance mod) same with the pontiac sunbird . |

I agree with cityxslicker, save for the sunbird, the 2 shelbys, and the SHO. I motion that the proctor have these stricken from record! In their place I submit: Datsun 510 Nissan Silvia with the CA18T (NOT the 240SX!) Nissan Bluebird Ford Crown Victoria coupe |

That's a sharp car. I also really like the '77-'84 full sized Cadillacs. I think the '77-'85 Impala was a nice looking car too. They aren't rare or expensive, but it's hard to find a really good one. I wonder if they will ever be up there pulling big money on the block. Bill |

Ferris that is sweet Caddy! Nice 5mph bumpers! I don't think an 84 SVO Mustang would be worth much since they made many improvements on the 85 1/2-86 ones. Any Cobra Mustang will be a future collectible. Dodge Magnums, 03-04 Mach 1s, LS1 f-bodys, 04-06 GTOs, mid 90s Impala SS, are my picks. As much as I love them I don't think the 5.0 Mustangs will have any mass appeal. Too many people think they look like Escorts. They will remain a cult car for the people who remember when they were the best bang for the buck in the day. Besides the Grand National you would have to spend 3x as much as 5.0 to get a faster car. I've had mine for 12 years and can not see myself ever selling it.

sleepers are dodge OMNI turbo That would have been a GLH....goes like hell! We had one until a lady in an Olds totaled it one night. It was a fun car to drive. My father-in-law swore it only had two legal gears, 1st and 2nd. And it was truly a sleeper. Then came the GLHS....goes like hell, some more! |

Remember it is never the car that was popular, or a great leap in technology that fetches the obscene amounts of money. It is the low production, slightly optioned vehicle, slightly off (away from the dealer promo pack) that gets the niche money. Look at the Harley XLCR and the money that it gets, gawd everyone thought it was UGLY. Buy UGLY, it pays off in 20. Just sold my 5th classic. 1940 Plymouth With a 41 tail section, and Dodge running gear, one of the LAST American coupes to run off the line in Novemeber of 1941. Model value book appraised at 8500, to a collector that knows what it is 16200 ;) Save the auction drama to the B.J. tv guys. |

Sy/Ty '92 Sonoma GT '93 Cobra 2000 Cobra R Hertz GT Mustangs The last THREE body style of Toyota Supra '99 "sport" Miata Lotus Elise/Exige Z06 (bone stock) Maybe the older style Dodge truck when they went to the two level front end Humvee PT Cruiser? CTS-V Ford Ute '89 Honda CRX SI (Ever been in one with some power and good tires/wheels?) Civic, but only with LOW miles and in pristine condition The GNX is already a classic Viper SRT-10 Viper Comp. Coupe 3000GT VR4 Creme de la creme... The 25th Anniversary Supra Lancer EVO GSR (probably the IV or VI will be the most spendy) Syclone/Typhoon/SoGT (the SoGT may actually end up worth more... There's only 806 of em... #482 is sitting in my driveway) Mint Z06's Nissan Skyline The top of the stack? Toss up between Nissan Skyline and 25th Anniversary Supra and '91 Typhoon. Cityx, since you seem to be a fan of 80's mopar. What about the POS Chrysler/Maserati TC? It was nearly $70k new for a rebadged Lebaron with a 3 speed transmission. |

"SVO" 4cyl. early eighties Mustang was conservatively rated not to overshadow the then V8 GT Mustang for which it outperformed |

Ducxl, trust me the SVO was not conservatively rated. While it could out handle the GT, in a straight line a GT had the advantage of more torque. The SVO was 2x the price of a base mustang and $5000 more than a GT. That was quite a chunk of change when a GT cost $11000 at the time. Ford wanted it to over shadow the GT. The SVO was built to compete with the BMWs, Audis, and Porsches of the time. As you know if someone is in the market for one of those cars they are not even thinking about a Ford. I'd agree with the CTS-V. Also any of the Dodge SRT series of cars would collectibles. |
