Rocketman Are we going to discuss family trees and heritage now? My father worked with the OSS during WWII and I'm thankful that both of our countries use the English language because of the combined effort. |

The rebar has compromised the design. It looks ugly. There, now we are even for the things you've said about the 1125R. Ah, erm, actually no Jack. I had the good sense to hide 'ugly' away Rocket |

Rocket, Your bike looks like a mechanical Swamp Thing. It looks like a junkyard gave birth to it. I have this vision of a mass of parts dragging itself from the rubble and slowly taking form into that.... thing. I'm not sure if you're going to take that as an insult or a compliment. I guess it could be taken either way. It's ugly, it's nasty, and I kinda like it. Do you have any further information on it elsewhere? |

It is everything you say, except it isn't ugly. Rocket I dig most any overpowered, crazy, homemade vehicles, but this, while cool, is way, way past ugly. Since you created it, it is not possible for you to ever see it the way others do..... |

Since you created it, it is not possible for you to ever see it the way others do..... Actually that's exactly the point. You can't see it in anything but one dimension. I can. There are many that have seen it, from non bikers to bikers. People I know and people I don't know, and no one yet has said anything but how good it looks. Believe me, if it looked ugly it wouldn't be sat in my garage let alone posted up here. Anyway, there's a thread in the backfire board for the ugly thing, so please lets not pollute this thread any further. I mean, there's already enough ugliness in it to start with! Rocket |

Rocket, Doesn't anyone remember Crazy E.J. Potter, the Michigan Madman? He was putting V8 motors in motorcycle frames before you were born. I remember him talking to a crowd in the pits of the Muncie Dragstrip saying the bike was only good for going straight. He even had to lean off of one side to counter balance the torque of the motor. Since we're on the subject of ugly bikes why not keep yours in the fray. I for one have never understood the concept of putting an automobile engine in a bike. Just because it can be done doesn't make it a worthy project. I see very little difference in the ability of your bike in comparison to a Boss Hog. Yeah, yeah, yeah I know they look different but I'd wager your bike gets around a corner no better that a Boss Hog or a shopping cart. It has to be heavy. The front fork is obviously not up to the task of doing anything but a straight line. I've walked back through this thread and noticed on several occasions you've called it a street fighter. The name alone invokes the thoughts of a bike that is light and agile, a blade if you will. Able to carve up city streets and canyon roads. I know it's a test piece but what are you testing and what might evolve from this monstrosity? Surely not a street fighter... maybe street paver? You are a funny little man Rocket. JB2 |

>>>I seriously doubt it would pass tech inspection. That'll be one of the challenges but everyone from Burt Monro to Roger Roezler has had to plan for and deal with that. The rules are published and preparing for tech is just one element of getting ready. Quoting is simple . . check out the formatting section. |

It's just fine for you to say it,but when Erik did it you've ragged on him for months demanding an explaination. So now YOU can explain the god awful Lime green/yellow paint.Rebar? You should've used Ablation casting. Now WHY didn't you use ablation casting!!! You cheapified by using silly building construction materials. Funny, when the shoe's on the other foot. |

You're really wasting your time guys. Let me tell you why. It was built for one reason only. So that people could see it. It matters not a jot that it's heavy, ponderous, handles like a dumper truck, and is probably life threatening, or UGLY. So what. A Boss Hoss is a leviathan in comparison, and it looks like a Chevy engined Hog. Mine doesn't. It looks like a big mean streetfighter the length of a normal motorcycle. Bonneville would be nice to do, even though I'm not a 'doer' apparently, but there are a number of things holding me up this year. Cest la vie. I have no problem with getting through tech. The bike is very well constructed and put together, but there are things I would want (not need) to change. GSXR1100 entire front end, better foot pegs, thumb operated rear brake, but most of all I would like to find a powerful tuned for carbs Rover V8 engine and put some serious HP down. That's going to take time and money. Then there's getting it ready, and in time to ship it, and be there at the other end for whatever timescale. Then it has to get from port to Bonneville. In a nutshell, that's time and money I don't have. Remember please, I've just spent a lot of money buying a TVR. I'm not a rich man. Then there's my health to get right. I'm only a handful of months into the end of my thyroid problems. I'm still overweight, and I still have a back problem that I'm hoping will go away with training and losing weight. I had an MRI scan last July which shows I have a slightly smaller than normal thingy me bob where the nerves, strings and wires route through the lower part of my spine. I think it's something to do with the sacroiliac joint or nerve or something. Anyway, that's it simplified. I could always run as a Team Elves team member couldn't I? Do us BadWeBers with ugly V8 bikes qualify for such exalted status? There's a thought. Rocket |

Funny, when the shoe's on the other foot. I think my pitiful offering doesn't bare mention in the same paragraph as Erik or an 1125. They aren't poles apart. They are planets apart. In any case, Erik's not seen my bike, but I've had a good look at his. And I'm pretty sure Erik would be impressed with my bike too. After all, he knows all about grass roots British bike building. He got going off the crumbs of a failing one. So what's this boot other foot thing you mentioned? Rocket |

Rocket, you sound like an 1125R owner! I'll reserve all and any opinion, good or bad, of your unruly beast until such a time comes that I might actually see it in the flesh. When you say it looks better in person I believe you. Pictures are just too two dimensional. I like the cleverness of the "nicked" scaffolding. There's a good story in there I bet. Do I have to remind you to tell us someday? |

I'll reserve all and any opinion, good or bad, of your unruly beast until such a time comes that I might actually see it in the flesh. I agree.Rocket,no doubt has worked long and hard on that machine and,it's formidable to be sure.Just a little crude in it's use of rebar as part of the frame. Peace,Rocket.I hope the thyroid problem subsides. |

>>>>And I'm pretty sure Erik would be impressed with my bike too. Actually . . . I'd agree with you on that one. Erik has, from day one, been the consummate tinkerer and, to this day, can't leave well enough alone. . . he has a garage(s) full of fascinating . . . and scary projects. By the way . . . as a little "lesson learned" . . . if you are going to bid on a complete front end clip for your "hobby car" (the man's gone mad) . . it's not a bad idea to ask where it's at . . . you see . . .shipping across 3 continents quickly erodes a "good deal". Yes. . . . like it, hate it or indifferent . . he'd like the idea that you built it. I mistook your "I'm taking it to Bonneville this year" statement to mean that you were taking it to Bonneville this year. Damn me. Well school starts again tomorrow and I'll be spending another semester reading case law . . so I'll be a better reader in the future. |
