Hi all, just checking back in. It's been 4 months and my Millennium X1 just keeps getting better and better. After a TPS reset at Bartel's, it's been truly the best bike I've ever owned. Yes, it shakes, it rattles, it scares the timid and comforts the insane, but now that I've gotten to know it, I'm kicking myself for not jumping in a lot earlier, like 7 years ago when this thing was still new. I've learned to carve up corners and I can go through city traffic with the same ease I used to on my KLR. My left hand has a much stronger grip (Thanks, HD), and even in full hoon mode, which isn't that often, I still get good fuel economy. A couple of weeks ago a friend and I did Little Tujunga canyon, north of Los Angeles. If you know this road, you know what a hoot it is on a bike of any sort. He was on a Hayabusa and I had the X1. Neither of us are pros, or even that good, but I managed to do the curves a little fast er than him most of the time, keep it smooth, and get it over. And yes, without sticking my helmet over the double-yellow. Of course he walked away whenever the road straightened out. Now my focus has shifted to keeping this bike alive for my remaining years on Earth, because I can't give it up, not now. Maybe someday I'll hop on an XB12R or S, or an 1125R and get smitten again, but for now, I think the X1 and I are going to age gracefully together. This assumes I don't suffer from stupidity, whether my own or someone else's (soccermom in the Escalade putting on lipstick and talking on the phone, I'm talking to YOU). |

I'm in the same boat as you DJ. Got my '01 Cyclone in July. Every time I get on this bike it scares me, amazes me, thrills me. It draws attention from EVERYONE, of course the D&D exhaust helps. I too plan on holding on to this bike for as long as I'm around. If you ever come down to San Diego, give me a yell, great backroads down here. |

I think the X1 and I are going to age gracefully together. I can't wait to be that eccentric old guy clattering down the street on his Buell. Almost... there... now... |
