Hey, do any of you guys own a tuber or are you all XB guys? I'm asking because I had planned on getting a used XB but due to the recent car troubles (used money for bike on a down payment for new car) My funds have vanished and so I'm looking to get my Buell around tax season and I don't think I can afford a used XB anymore so a X1, S1 etc. etc. seems to be more in my price range. Any experience. Can you point me in the direction for knowledge? |

Hey Jack, I ride a tuber, DUCX1 has an X1 (I've never seen him ride) and there are others! We'll get a chance to talk bikes sometime soon and I'll give you my thoughts about tubers (I love mine is a good place to start!). Are we still on for the weekend of the 8th or 9th? Both days still good for everyone or? |

Ok, unless someone chimes in about what day works for them I say we have the Buell Family Day on the USS Constitution on Saturday December 8th. We are still open to time and place to meet and suggestions for an affordable family restaurant for those that want to get a meal together. Let's have a head count too. There will be 3 of us! From here on out, let's continue this thread over on NEBO. |

Haven't been around for a while, but just wanted to drop in and say bye. I sold the XB and am preparing for transfer. Looks like I'm headed to Virginia at the end of winter. It's been fun, and I had a good time when we were able to get together. Keep the shiny side up, Dan |

Hey Eric, ya know I had that Palm Pilot VII in my Jeep at the Constitution? Oh well, I want to start getting myself up to speed on the latest so that I can eventually have a hand in tuning my S3. I already understand how our FI works I am ready to get into reading/writing to the ECM. Not so much to necessarily change something now, but to be ready to when I make some changes.... Where do I start? ECMSPY? My computer still has a serial port and I can load it into that Palm pilot right? |

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year to everyone!! I just made my reservations at the host hotel for the 2008/25th Buell Anniversary/Homecoming. I will be hauling the bike out to WI. Hope to see/meet some N.E. Buellers out there! Been workin' on the 9's small oil drip from the oil lines next to the oil pump. Then I have to adjust or replace the clutch plates. The others don't need any work. However, my '67 Norton Atlas needs the main shaft seal replaced. I hope everyone is having a good fall/winter. Lookin' forward to spring! |

sure that is something I am looking forward to, to see what this bike can do, or should I say what I can do. I am going to race school to get my license so I can do track days and to make me a better and calmer street rider. I have to get a leather suite and buy other things like saddlebags that I need to tour with, I hope to get everything ready by May. I turn fifty in May and do not want to worry about money, and want to cellabrate making it this far. I feel it will be my last summer that I can travel, my son is a going to college in the fall and will have to support him while he is going there, so that is going to be tough on me and my wallet. I want this riding season to be awesome, I have 3 goals and hope to meet at least one, they are the 1/4 mile under 10 seconds, drag my knees in corners, and hit 200 mph, hope to do at least one and I will be happy. I got to set the bike up to tour and get the gear to do it, I want to go to Buells homecoming in july, and do the Blue Ridge Parkway and Deals gap in the late summer fall, everything else will be icing on the cake. I will be watching here for rides coming up, and will see you guys later, I got lots of things to do and to figure out. My son is pure bike rider has no interest in cars and road twice today, I hope he stays safe that could ruin my plans. Mike |

Well then you are on the right track (pun intended) with track days as you do not own a bike that is capable of 9 second 1/4's or 200 mph! |

Hi Scott, I research this bike for a couple of month and know just about everything about this bike, the bike was built for street riding not racing, but it was built with lots of room to grow, so the potential is there, it is just a matter of time and we will be seeing what this bike is really capable of doing. There is a rumor that there is a race ecm that you can buy but need to have a race license to purchase it, but like I said it is a rumor, I have not seen it myself. I think Buell might have big plans for this bike, but cant be sure they are very tight lipped when it comes to there bikes, they just released another ulysses with less suspension travel and hard bags and call it a sport tourer the xbxt. so we will have to waite awhile but I think this bike maybe made to replace the xbrr they have now, but that is a just my opinion. Guess I should have said it is not capable of 9 second 1/4's it its current stock form Mike. It is doubtful that a race ecm would get you in the nines either. it would need more cam, more compression and more revs IMO. The ECM may (or may not) give you more revs, but cannot do anything about the other two.... (Message edited by scott_in_nh on January 22, 2008) |

True! I've seen too many nice engines ruined with the stuff though, I prefer to see a bike go on all motor...... Are we going to honored with your presence at NED this season Eric? |

Hey Eric I did think of that but would rather more cubic inches to get there instead of nos. Do you guys know of a way to figure out watts at different rpms, I am trying to figure out how many watts the bike put out at 4000 rpms, the book says 435 watts at 7000 rpm and I do not know why they would rate it at this rpm, are you suppose to cruise at 7000 rpms, I doubt that very much. Yes Eric I plan on doing allot of riding this season and will be up at ned but more interested in track days, I plan on going to penguin racing school in the spring to get my license I hope, they open up in april but the advance two day course is in june, but once you get your license you can do track days which is once or twice a month at Louden race way, the school cost 250 a day and you can rent Ducati's and leathers, and there are guys there to prep the bike for the track but I think I can do that myself. I am Game with that! I am a bit disappointed with myself as I was not able to get to the Track, i love Drag Racing! Only got there once this year...ATLEAST it was TOP FUEL! And I have a strap for the front end I need to use. Not sure if they will allow bottles as they are set up on my bike, but I can run with out them. i am looking into some head work and a cam now. March sure is coming up fast! I have plans for some track days also. I could use a bit of riding techniques to help me out on the road/track. |

They are getting more stringent about bottles, but I would always recommend starting without them as you will have your hands full anyway. Besides street nights on Wed and Fri they also do quite a few "Streetfighter" bracket races on Saturdays and some Sundays, so there are no excuses! |

Eric I seen Victories that had nos on vtwin night, I had gone there with the ulysses and there were hardly any harleys and mostly Victories, I did a couple of passes and was bored and went home. I want to do track days to, but you need a license to do track days, and am going to penguin racing school which is in Massachusetts www.penguinracing.com, also need full leathers on the track and can you can rent what ever you need, they also will prep you bike for you for I think 150.00 but you can do it yourself and I will do mine, you either wire bolts up or use sillicon to keep the bolts from coming out. I am not sure but we might need belly pans that can hold so many quarts of fluid encase you blow hole in your motor it will hold all the oil your bike has, and I got to use plain water or a mix of something that will keep the track clean encase of a wipe out, I was also thinking of being a corner worker, you stand there to help if some one goes down, and if you have a problem with that corner when riding you can ask to be on that corner and watch how the pro's ride that corner and watch and learn how to corner better, I am trying to get all the things I need by may so I can just worry about gas money and ride, so maybe we can go to the school together. let me know. Eric how many screws hold the rear plastic tail on, I need to get the battery out and got to take the tail off to do it, I had a bad voltage regulator and someone said it can ruin the battery. I want to take the battery to pep boys and have it checked out on there battery tester. Mike |

Mike you should be able to get to it if you just remove your seat. On the XBR's the battery is under the seat. If you have to take your tail off then it is 5 bolts. 2 under the seat, 1 under the rear seat and 2 underneath and in front of the passenger peg supports. |

Thanks Damnut it is different then the xbrs, the battery post are under the rear seat and the battery is between the two seats so the tail has to come off. Thanks |

dig in the 1125 thread. I remember someone going into detail as to what it took to replace his battery. he got a bad one from the dealer. I do remember the tail needed to be removed as well as a bunch of other stuff. I will check in there also. it was in the last month or so I read it. DO NOT listen to Damnut!
