At a clip of producing 50 or so on a good day, that is certainly within possibility. Mine is 240 and I got mine in mid December. I am not at all sure if they are sequential though. |

They have a unit capacity of 50/day in the factory (IIRC). If they produced 1125R (only) since the beginning of November, then there would easily have been a couple of thousand produced by now. That's not the case though since there were supplier issues. How much those issues slowed production? I have no idea. But even if it put the production at less than 50%, 700 or so is reasonable. But then again, I'm just rambling without any knowledge |

>>>is that an accurate count of which number buell i have? It is a unique IDENTIFYING number. Trying to read much more than that into it if fun . . . but that's about it. |

mine is a Nov-07 build and #240, delivered December 19th. He he.. .with enough data point we might be able to decipher the numbering logic! |

Bobup, I was having the same feelings you were. It's tough. Hang in there. Mine arrived on Dec. 27th or 28th. I wasn't able to pick it up until Jan. 3rd. Holidays, etc. Has you dealer gotten any confirmation that it is actually on a truck yet? Once it gets on the truck, then it really is a day to day thing. good luck! |

Mine arrived at the dealer today, finally! I'll likely not make the 100 mile (one way!) trip to pick it up until friday or saturday. I've never asked about the vin... Say Slaughter, if you are looking in, you might want to go by and take a peek at it... And then give me a hard time on how good it looks over the next few days. You're getting one Glen!!!!! That's awesome. Keeping the Uly? DVDaze is next weekend (25th) at Furnace Creek. Might be a fun run on the new bike. |

Garret I've read the post, although that contradicts previous post and facts I've seen. If you'll do a little survey of build dates and VIN's I think you'll find they are serial. My bike has a build date of October and it is #105. Production started October 30 and there was a press release that the first 1 (#101) went to the Harley museum. Look at the build dates and numbers, they are getting bigger as time goes on. |

ok, im sorry, youre right, buell customer service is wrong, my bad.... not trying to be a jerk, just saying, they are random numbers, thats what court said, thats what buell says besides, 650 1125s is a lot, id think there would be less people waitng for so long on their new bikes, especially people thatve had downpayments for 4+ months |

Ok, I'm a data guy. I work in IT and have spent the better part of 30 years specializing in data analysis. First let me state that there no such thing as random. There are always patterns. Some patterns have more reoccurring frequency than others, but there are always patterns. I'm not an expert nor do I have any knowledge or insight into Buell's processes. But there are patterns in the data I've seen for VIN numbers and those patterns indicate VIN numbers are assigned somewhere in their process serially. Now stuff happens in any process. Things go wrong. Parts are defective or fail or get delayed due to quality control equipment malfunctions etc. Product coming off the line may not be in the exact order it was scheduled. Delays occur in transportation etc. They may skip to the next 100 block when they make make design spec changes so the fact you have VIN number 650 doesn't necessarily mean it's the 650th bike produced. What Buell is trying to say is you can't read much into the VIN number other than it's unique. Bottom line is based on the data I've seen VIN numbers are assigned somewhere in Buell's process mostly in an incremental fashion (serially). You can convince me I'm wrong. For example production started late in October and was very slow for a number of reasons. Show me a bike with an October build date with a VIN number higher than 199 and I'll be convinced. I'd be really surprised to see an October built bike with a VIN number higher than 150. Or show me a Build date and VIN that don't correlate. In other words build month on bike "A" is greater than build month on bike "B" but VIN on bike "A" is less than VIN on bike B. There lots of was to convince me they are not serial, but I haven't seen it in the data yet. (Message edited by spectrum on January 16, 2008) |

Still keeping the Uly Jim but I'm trading in the 12R. Hate to do that as it's been my best bike ever but there's too many bikes in the garage and the 1125 can do what the 12R does. Death Valley, January and Ulys go together better. Just ask Rinoworks! (Sp?) |
