You only "view" things )persons) when they are dead. Was the SP1 dead Sean?

We have also heard rumours over here through various dealer employees, that there will be a 'new' air cooled model announced at the dealer meeting. It will apparently slot into a 'growing market sector', presumably one that teh current range doesn't fit into then. So is this... 1. XB Touring model. Yawn, next... 2. XB dressed up like a 1125R for those on a budget. Booo, very unoriginal thinking by the marketing dept and bean counters, shame on you. 3. XB engined Tube frame retro cafe racer fitted with a 5 gallon polished aluminium tank and race seat a la Voxan Black Magic/Charade, Ducati Sport Classics & even the Jesse Rooke KTM Cafe Racer. Yippeee, at last. Brave move in spite of the bean counters, accountants and corporate suits, shows guts and style and would sell as a limited edition model. Gets my vote and I'd buy one, though unfortunately I don't think it will happen ;(

That would be pretty awesome. The only complaint I've ever had about the aesthetics of the XB's is the fact that the frame hides so much of the engine. I'd love to see it! |

I'd go for that XB ST model and bore you to death riding it tens of thousands of miles back and forth across the country. ;) |

I've yet to hear a "Dealership Employee" rumor that turned out to have any merit. I personally think it will be a jet-powered sport-touring trike.

Rumor I heard is that Buell has spun off an engineering consulting group (kinda like Porsche did) tucked away secretly in Wisconsin somewhere and they have been engaged by Ducati to sort out their mass centralization issues.

It should be noted here that Buell - marketing; Buell - manufacturing and Buell - Engineering are all strangely silent on the release of PLAID. I have tried talking to Buell staff - to no avail. I thought they were singling me out in particular but in many interviews of other Buell enthusiasts, I have found NOT A ONE who has any information on the PLAID machines. I talked to a CFD analyst at work and asked him: IF a fairing were painted PLAID, would it have lower drag than an unfaired bike painted yellow, white, blue, black or red? His response: "Quite Possibly with some exceptions" - so after talking to an AERO scientist, I am concluding that Buell IS working on PLAID. Just you watch... I'm still waiting for an air cooled Helicon. Buell has been carrying Harley Davidson long enough. ;) |

Slaughter, I can tell you why they're not giving you info on the PLAID bike, it's because they have to be exat about these things & plaid is a generic term, whereas if you'd asked about TARTAN that'd be a whole new kilt. I'd have one in this, my family's dress tartan.

I just realized the need for secrecy - thank you for clearing it up. I had forgotten the familial Scotts connections... now that adds a NEW layer of intrigue! |
