Looking to polish out my plastics. Previous owner sanded the bike down with 600 grit for a flat look. I want shiny. I've heard some people using micro mesh on the Buells, and lots of people using it on model cars and such. Anyone know what kit I should order? Was guessing maybe the acrylic kit. |

Dunno.... did you try Novus 3, then 2, then Harley Sealer Glaze? The 600 grit may be too much for the novus 3... and you could be looking at a LOT of work. I don't think the plastics are *horribly* expensive. Probably comparable to the price of a quality paint job. |

I got a white Bolt that had been gone over with a coarse 3M pad. I imagine it to be similar to what 600 grit might do. I removed all the plastic and used a rotary polisher with a cotton buff pad and some of this: (red stuff) http://www.turtlewax.com/main.taf?p=2,1,4,13 Then I went over it all by hand with this: (white stuff) http://www.turtlewax.com/main.taf?p=2,1,4,14 I used a very light touch with the polisher, and lots of water in a spray bottle to keep the surface from overheating(melting). It took the better part of 2 days, and it was a HUGE freakin mess, and I thought my arms would fall off after the first day. But the plastics turned out great. Whatever you do, take your time and be patient with it. |
