My point about the elderly lady was how she really liked the looks of the 1125R. On my XB I usually got sneers from people like her. I was kinda shocked at her very positive reaction. Certainly unexpected. I mentioned that incident 'cause it is quite out of the ordinary around here. Freezer, I was talking about Calliope, the bike, of course. God the first time I say one was Wednesday. I was riding it five minutes later and now own it. It's a masterful bike. Beautiful, muscular and purposeful. But the sweetness, is riding it. Hey guys I have bought off ebay fighter jet decals made for the fire bolt from buell but discontinued, I would like you guys opinions on putting them on the 1125R, I have a Akuma stealth fighter jet helmet so the decals would kind of go together with the helmet, has anyone seen these decals on a bike? You know what I don't get is all these sharp angles in the designs of the new bikes. Looking at the current issue of Cycle world it's obvious this is the latest design trend. The three main articles all have bikes with these hard sharp angles in the designs (R6, RC8 and new B-King). While they are all great machines with modern refined underlying engineering, they all look like toys to me. Specifically they all remind me of transformer robots. I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict these designs are a fade and will not last. In fact I'm betting history will look back on this as a weak period in motorcycle ascetic designs. You can call the 1125R ugly if you want, but I much prefer the swiping curves and subtle lines. The 1125R doesn't look like a toy. It looks mean and sophisticated at the same time. It has some odd characteristics with the pods and fairing, but one thing is for sure it's unique and it's unmistakingly Buell. I like the 1125R looks and I'm glad Buell didn't succumb to the fade and create a toy transformer robot looking bike. (Message edited by spectrum on January 11, 2008) | ||

I am doing, unlike "Mr. Shining Example" who was done on time, my second read of the first draft today and was thrilled to find that Mr. Gess himself, based on first hand experience, fact and contemporaneous photos, actually wrote about the myriad of differences between the XB and the 1125R frame. I chuckled and wondered if he . . . I'd have to go back and look. . incited the current "a couple mouse clicks" tomfoolerly. Facts would kill that thread in a heartbeat. By the way . . . I am pleased to report that after 20+ years that writing has brought out a "new and (subject to opinion) improved" Dave Gess. . . the guy is an animal once he gets started. I'm reading this stuff and laughing my butt off. What happened to the one guy we, in years gone by, could count on as the voice of reasoned logic? He grew and and evolved into . . . you guessed it . . a SHINING EXAMPLE! Fun stuff! . . . but we're gonna need another 11 volumes to cover all the info. Court | ||

If one abides in a friend's house, yet refuses to respect the friend's house and refuses to honor his/her house rules/requests, is one really a friend? Old friend, when will you respect my requests? Wow, this has to be the longest running thread I've started to date here. And I was just commenting on how I like how the 1125R looks in person. So much so, that now that I have seen it, I'm really considering buying one when I get promoted. So much so, that I am even considering flying home, buying one at Gainesville HD, and riding back to CO with my parents for a 3 week vacation. | ||
