Hello everyone. First- My collector going in to my V&H muffler is rusty kinda. Could I use rattle can high temp paint after busting the rust off on there to protect it? Or should I paint the whole pipes and then wrap them? Second, what are some common spots to tighten down, I have a few small oil leaks around the front of my engine, not from the cylinders. It looks more like the oil pressure switch/oil filter area, kinda where the brackets are. Thanks! |

I recently replaced the oil pressure sending unit on mine, it had started to leak. |

I tried spraying my header with "High Temp" paint last year. Burned off at the front bends within 30 seconds of starting the bike. Ended up with a day long process of sanding it all off, working all the way to 2400 grit paper. Pipes ended up all nice and shiny. You might want to have them jet-coated if you want a diffrent color but I wouldn't recommend a spray can. |

What about pipe wrap? I have heard good things, as well as things like it eats through your pipes and stuff. Is it really that bad? How much would a kit cost to do all that? Thanks again |

I'm getting ready to wrap my header soon. I've heard it will make steel headers brittle and break them down but ours are stainless so it shouldn't affect them. Check out the thread just another header wrap question. Lots of pics from those who have gone on before us (wrapping headers, not deceased) I have been doing lots of research and this is the cheapest place I have found. http://www.jscspeed.com/universal/thermotec.htm While I have them off I'll spray them with the silicone spray and everything. My header is already powder coated black and has been for several years (check profile) but I'd like some more relief for my leg. Hope this helps. Michael |

If you're using hi temp paint, PAINT A HOT PART. Don't paint it cold. Clean it cold, prep it, then start the bike and get it hot. Turn it off, piece of cardboard behind the part you want painted to protect the part you don't, and blast away. Or...just wrap it. |
