I noticed this very early on, but I just pretended it was not there and that it will go away... still going on The belt is running about an 1/8" left of where I would imagine that it should. As a result the belt also hits the bottom belt guard, which I refuse to remove (indefinitely that is).  I am wondering what could be the cause of this, since everything is preset? And what can I do to get this resolved, or more accurately what I should tell the tech? Thanks, Peter | ||

A side note; just the other day I had my bike parked side by side with another 1125R and the gap between the belt guard and the belt was rather substantial. The belt was also flush with the lip on the rear pulley. | ||

Peter, I have the same thing on mine, although the space is slightly smaller. Noticed when I roll the bike around the garage I can hear it squeaking against one of the belt guards some of the time. Hoping this isn't an issue? | ||

You might want to start by checking the rear axle to make sure it is tight and to the proper torque value. If nothing found there then the same with the swingarm pivot bolt. Looked at mine with 105 mi. on it, it's perfectly centered on the pully. | ||

I too hear it when rolling the bike, and also at certain speeds (30-40mph) it howls... Hopefully we will soon find out if it indeed an issue or not. The belt is showing a little wear at this point, but not too terrible. So far I have 900 miles on the bike... | ||

Speaking of torque values... Is the rear axle torque value the same as the XB? | ||

My 2008 Firebolt is riding like that. None of my other X-Bikes did. Is this new on the 08's? | ||

I think you will have a small gap there. Both of my XB's had a little space there. Shouldn't be a problem. I would be concerned about the belt guard being that close, though. | ||

For a new bike under warranty, I would let the dealer address it. For a bike out of warranty, or as a suggestion to the dealer... Somebody in the past had an issue like this, and traced it back to a bent tensioner pulley. Wouldnt hurt (or be much work) to pull it and check it. Somebody else traced it to a bent swingarm pivot bolt. I bought a new one and will install it sometime this winter to see if that is what was wrecking my belts. Saintly has another solution..... | ||

I certainly will let the dealer address it, I just want to get some information to hand over to the dealer. That way they do not have to do as much research/diagnosing... Saves them time and I do not have to be without a vehicle for as long. I am terrible when it comes to chains, I do not like them they do not like me... Thanks, Peter | ||

The belt running slightly off center is not an issue you should worry about. There is a tolerance, and the narrowest gap is right up against the flange so anything else in the tolerance range will show a gap. What you have on your bike is normal, and there will not be a bent axle or anything like that. However the belt guards are sometimes too close, and there are a few like this that seem to have gotten out before we caught it. The supplier changed the way they were cooling parts as they come out of the mold between our last pre-production batch and these, and they now get too close, and as you see even touch at the one end of the tolerance band. It shouldn't hurt much of anything, but you could modify it slightly to get clearance and order a new one. | ||

Keep on riding Peter. Mine shows the same gap. I've bent the lower guard out a little every now and then. I see it as an "owners adjustment"  | ||

It should be getting warmer by monday... Perhaps another ride is in order, attempted one today but it was miserable. | ||

UPDATE: Well I filed down the lip a little. But: It appears as though the guard was just simply unhappy in its place, because when I reinstalled it I gained about 3/32 of clearance + the area that I filed down. So if anyone else is having a similar issue/concern try loosening the bolts and letting the cover settle in a more natural position.  | ||

Just did the loosen covers and let settle, looks like I have clearance everywhere now. Possible a gorilla torquing these covers on |
