Spike - Congratulations! +1 1313 - I'm 80% sure I will not make Home Coming this year. If I do by chance get a chance to go, I would be interested. |

Happy New Year everyone. Speaking of the new year, anyone planning on riding on new years day? High of 60 and no rain. |

I'm planning on meeting up with a group of guys in Apex at 10am. No idea how far we're going, probably just wander backroads for a while and then find lunch. Let me know if you guys are interested. |

I think I can squeeze one more decent ride from the rear tire. Post a meeting place and I'll try to join in. |

Flyn - Nice! Did you start it? It sounds good, at least if it's your bike. I assume you've got the service manual, but just in case, you're not supposed to reuse the torka clamp or the front strap. I see you passed on doing the headers. ;) |

No didn't start it up. Had 2" drags on the sportster and loved the sound but couldn't ride the way I wanted, so they had to go. Cops can hear you coming 2 counties away. Thanks for the info on the clamps. They were rusted enough that they wouldn't look pretty on the new paint. No time to drop the motor...maybe next time. Was scared I wouldn't remember how to put it back together come February. |

Finally I am back....and it is not 28 degrees here, that rocks... Lucky you! It's 28° in East Troy right now. And it's definitely NOT as bad as it has been during my stay. It will be warmer than that when I land in New Bern tomorrow afternoon. My itinerary is pretty safe to guarantee I will be back in time for New Years Eve. As long as Milwaukee is clear to take off, Charlotte & New Bern should be of no concern. So hopefully even US Air can't screw this one up. Mission accomplished! The trifecta has been completed! Now they just need to make it home unscathed. Key for being home by New Years Eve... Of the 3 1125R's I've seen on dealers salesfloors up here, 2 were definitely sold. t-20 days, 1313 |

Hey guys, the details on the New Years Day ride are to meet at Calvary Chapel in Apex, NC at 10am gassed up and ready to go. The address is: 1600 Center St. (also known as Ten-Ten rd.) Apex, NC 27502 Google map: http://tiny.cc/TIlth We do this ride annually, sometimes it's been 50+ bikes, sometimes it's been less than 10. I have no idea how big it'll be this year, but it should be a fun ride either way. If things go smoothly today I'll be there on my new (to me) toy. If you're running late that morning give me a call on my cell phone so we know to wait for you. My cell number is nine one nine two seven one seven one zero nine. |

I might be able to make it (unless Trish talks me into a long trail run to start the New Year). I'll be on the big enduro. |

My plans to become the first person to do an Iron Butt on an 1125r were foiled today, as the RPHD/B demo bike is not available for rental. |

I'm about to take my last ride on the Firebolt, headed to the dealer hoping to finalize a deal on a Ulysses. I'm excited and bummed at the same time. |

Out with the old: In with the new: After 50 months of ownership (October '03 to December '07) and 31,644 miles I traded my beloved '04 XB12R Firebolt for an '07 XB12X Ulysses. I'd post more, but the Ulysses and I are due for some serious crate time. |

I've been tinkering in the garage all afternoon and if I didn't have a party to go to tonight I'd spend the rest of the evening there. The dealer is not as particular/meticulous/anal as I am when it comes to maintenance and detail things, so I've been fixing and adjusting. An '07 XB12X service manual is definitely on my list of things that I need for the bike. Jim- When you get a chance can you post a good picture of your kickstand? The end of my kickstand hits the exhaust outlet when it's retracted. I don't remember yours doing that, but I can't see what mine is missing that should stop the kickstand any earlier. |

I just discovered that you can't put the kickstand up and photograph it if you're by yourself.

You can see the stop, as it has a bit of rust where the paint has rubbed away from the metal to metal contact. Bear in mind that I have the 06 recall kickstand, they may have changed the 07 kickstand. |

If your looking for mods to do, the two I've done that I'm most pleased with are the lights and the ceramic coating of the muffler. There are a zillion options for lights. The ceramic on the muffler stops the rust, which will occur otherwise. Of course you had a drummer on your last bike which will also stop the rust if you go that route again. If I was more mechanically inclined I would have coated the headers as well. The 3 pages of instructions for getting them off the bike intimidated me. You have to rotate the engine. I stopped reading when they started giving snapon tool numbers. |
