I have an 05 xb12scg with,Drummer exhaust,K&N filter and an 05 RACE ECM. I recently bought the new style Air box and wonder if I should now plug the hole in my frame to the air box base and modify my outer box like the newer outer box. I think I am more worried about the 05 Race ECM not working the same as a newer race ecm. If they are the same then I would think I am good to go. Any suggestions? Thanks (Message edited by sgthigg on December 24, 2007) |

Sgt, I wouldnt worry about the extra air flow. I would think that the Race ECM would easily be able to compensate. Also that ECM is good up through the 07. Leo |

I would study intake resonance in regards to changing the structure of the air box chamber before I changed anything. Think of it in terms of how chambers and mufflers work for exhaust back pressure resonance. |

Hey great info. If I understood it correctly. So does the Hole in the frame almost act as a side resonator with the 07 Air Box? I would need some serious R&D equipment to figure it out scientificaly. Nevertheless I drilled my outer box and plugged my hole in the frame tonight. It gives me an excuse to hit some mountain twisties and some city riding tomorrow. I will do a seat of the pants dyno run then and post what I could tell. |
