I have a PitBull that I use on my XB and S1. However it does not adjust out far enough to accommodate the wider swing arm on the 1125. Does anybody have a suggestion for a good wheel stand?

Can always take the stand into a machine shop and explain to them your dilemma and see if you can design a better topmount for the pitbull. Then when swapping bikes you just have to bolt on the other topmount. A different design will just make the bike sit up an inch higher because the mount will end up on top of the tube frame instead of the side but it shouldn't matter.

Maybe Buell in all of its wisdom can finally make its own stand to sell as part of a race kit or just weld on some extra nuts for .05cents to the swingarm....but wait..wait for it...oh yeah.. than again I have been asking for this since 2003...im my view just plain dumb on their part again with a new bike..for now it looks like using some tie downs from the rafters of the garage....I guess it is different in everyway...but hey at least you got an alarm on it...: )

I still have the Buell rear stand(I think it's Buell, bought it at the Harley shop) I got for my Firebolt.
edit<I went out and looked at it.
Made by Don Shalla Ent. in Rancho Cordova, CA.>
It isn't like the PitBulls but lifts from the bottom of the swingarm.
The 1125 slides forward off it with any vibrations because of the slope of the swingarm.
<There are , on each side, very slight raised features on the bottom of the swingarm.
Looks like my lift might work, since this bike doesn't shake while running like all the Buells with "the Lump".>
I think I can adapt it to go inside the rear axle.
It kinda works, but not stable enough to count on.
Out to the garage...

Merry Christmas all.

Z

When looking at pics in the owners section on Buell.com and I think I see Lockart Phillips rws. I'm not so sure I'll trust my gem to LP rws though.
I like the idea of having the attach point altered as well. Thanks for input so far.

I have a set of Pit Bulls, I ended up welding a section of round tube into the right side ( looking from the rear, to keep the handle closer to the operator ) to widen it out for the XB w/ Dark Horse Moto slider / spools. Mine must have been an early stand, as I'm told that the later ones are wider from Pit Bull.

Hmmm

The one I have been using for 7+ years has been rock solid. I used it tons of times for XB's I have worked on as well. My only complaint is that the little rubber nubs came off oooh darn!

How about those EBAY stands made of bent tube steel? Step on one side and yank on the other to adjust width.

Asbjorn

If it's within a half inch, you can actually spread (bend) it open a little.

I had to do that for the PitBull for my XB9 racebike. Got my biggest buddy and he just muscled it another 3/4 inch open.

You might look at the Condor Pit Stop stand. You just drive into the stand and it holds the bike upright. I have one for my Victory Hammer and the soon to be ... 1125R. Works great, don't have to strap it in (unless using it to transport), and made well.

I've been thinking about a Condor. Problem is, it does not get the rear wheel off the ground for cleaning/servicing. Thanks for pointing it out though.

I used a porta-power on my Pitbull, spread it just enough.

How much wider is the 1125r swingarm vs the XB?

Rich,

That is a good idea. I think I will do the same with my stand. I was a bit bummed when I heard the Pit Bull stand is not wide enough for the new swing arm width. Thanks for the solution!

Fresno,

Sounds like we only need to spread the stand about an inch or so.

The axle length is identical on my XB9R and 1125R: 14 1/4"

The XB swingarm is flat on the sides(vertical) and even with the ends of the axle. The RWS only needs to extend to the axle length.

The 1125R swingarm is beveled and on it's widest point adds 3/8" on both sides requiring a RWS that will spread at least 15".

Because of the beveled design, the horizontal ledge on my Pitbull will not have a great contact surface (under the swingarm).

The ideal would be to modify the the Pitbull fitment to open up to a 120degree L bracket instead of the 90degree.

Guys, the T-Rex stands have a lift bracket that fits the bill. Check em out on ebay. You can get both front and rear for $150 IIRC. And I BELIEVE that the T-REX will adjust wide enough to accommodate the 1125r swingarm without modification. I eyeballed it but I will confirm Wednesday when I pickup my bike.

Thanks Doerman....I would have had it on Friday, but due to some circumstances I am waiting until Wednesday. And OF COURSE the temperature rose 10 degrees today with sunny skies after a forecast of on and off rain. Figures!
