Fans are on the inside face of the pods by each of the fork tubes. If not for the wheel and fork tubes you'd see the right pod's fan in that last pic. They face straight in to the centerline of the bike and are quiet in slow speed, but I don't know about high speed. |

The existing ducting will easily incorporate into a full fairing. I don't see the current configuration as any hindrance to that at all. The intakes stay put and the fairing simply includes the ducting or envelopes it. |

Similarly to what Blake has said I think all it would need to look like a full faired bike is lowers which looks like it would be easy to do. A friend rides a Suzuki SV1000 which started as a half necked bike, as the 1125R is, and with just a set of lowers it did just that. Looks good but I wonder if this would transform an 1125R into looking like sooo many other full faired bikes. Hopefully not as I am partial to full faired motorcycles. Bob |

I like them, especially in person, but I can that they could have incorporated into the fairing. I think people may have liked a three quarter fairing, that incorporated or hid the pods. cannot wait till they have higher bars. A more upright position. Still too much of a racer riding position for me. I need My M2 riding postion. rex |

Can anyone find a decent side shot of a black 2008 GSXR 1000? I think you can cut and paste the lower 1/2 of the gixer fairing on to the bottom of the 1125R "pods" and get substantially the same look.
I'm hoping for a bolt-on "lower" kit like the S3T had, preferably one that integrates with the new "hot foot" part so we can keep out toes warm in the winter! |

Josh, same for me on the lowers. The fairing on my M2 does that to some extent. My knee area is what usually gets the coldest while riding in cold weather and quite a bit of the warm engine air funnels back to my legs, Nice! Maybe just some lowers on an 1125R would do similarly. Did Buell MC consider a full fairing?
Seems these airscoops could have incorporated into a well designed full fairing.
I know this is inconsistent with the naked idea (ie showing some engine...) but it would give some added wind protection, possibly improve the aero, and look like a real "superbike."
I suppose a full fairing will make its way onto the track/racing bikes.

One of the reason Buell cites for not going full fairing is the end users insurance costs. A full fairing can get pretty banged up in a typical fall off the kickstand therefore it costs a little more to insure. By keeping those off and the pods flexible it helps you pay less money in overall cost of ownership. Something they like to emphasize as another of the many great reasons to own a Buell. |

Thats a weak excuse. If they what to lower the cost of replacement parts, they are free to so at any time.
Saying I don't trust you with this, you might break it so you may not have it, here have some pods makes no sense. |

I heard that the pods are great (ie cheap) frame sliders. I have not heard that the the full fairing was avoided due to insurance ramifications.
As far as Buell lowering cost for replacement parts, puulease. Buell does an awesome job on the cost of replacement parts and I hope that this continues for the 1125r. The cost of parts is a FRACTION of what foreign competitors charge.
Oh, and Brad--I see that you took the first opportunity to jump on the 'ol scoops again. Nice. |

LOl, only because that the only thing keeping me from getting the 1125R. I want one soooo bad. I did get to see one in person. I will wait for a modified future version. Torture for me I tell ya
Sorry, I did not mean to imply Buell charges too much for parts. I just dont think its a good reason to de-content a given item. |

I believe the scoops are supposed to be cheap to replace. Likely, insurance would never get a claim because of it for just a simple tip over. My first streetbike was $1800 in cosmetic damage after I went down. I'll have to see the quotes I get on the 1125. Would love to find the cheap numbers some get.
The pods take some getting used to but they do have a bit of raw edge that's rather F4 Phantom. Maybe add a refueling boom? On track refueling from say a FLHTC equipped with tanks. Now that would make for an interesting endurance race. |

I saw my first 1125 this last week. The pods just arn't that bad especially when your sitting on the bike. The pods are the most practical configuration they could come up with to move the C.G. forward without running into the problems the guys I know with RC 51's they ran hot, and if things ran hot in Oregon I can't imagine what they ran like in Arizona.
If you look at how they were designed from an airflow stand point the 1125 takes air from a nonturbulent high pressure area and exhausts it into a low pressure area with a diffuser to extract the hot air. Everyone else is using turbulent air from behind the fork tubes (round tubing is not aerodynamic)then they try to exhaust this slower airmass into air going by the outside of the bike. Now the I think about it the lowers on most sport bikes probably arn't there for aerodynamic purposes but to help with cooling airflow out of the radiators.
When the S model is released in 2009, I have no proof just seams logical, the scoops will probably be shorter front to back, but they will most likely stick out the sides more to get enough air flow because they will be working in more turbulent air. |

Would it be possible to put some thing over the tubes to give them a more tear drop or wing shape? Something that will force air into the ram air scoop. Just a thought. I wonder how much air you could force into that frontal area. OR deflect it around the forks into the radiator pods. |

Bigblock... I'm hoping the 1125R is like an old girlfriend I had many many years ago. She was a wonderful lady, faithful and forgiving, terrific body, fun to ride, but had a face that could stop a watch. I'm looking for another like her! Yea, there may be a 1125 in my garage someday.
Hope your new ride does for you what that lady did for me.... put a smile on my face, made my heart beat faster....... and other things not appropriate to mention here. Remind me to tell ya about her someday.
