Quick question on the XB ECM Will it know if there is poor spark? Will it know if a cylinder is not firing. I only ask, as it has been a little colder here in NC 35-40ish, and i have been bundling up for the weather. With my ears covered, this thing sounds real tame, (sounds like a completly different bike) even though it still flies  | ||

No, not really. The only effect will be cylinder head temperature and exhaust oxygen content will be affected and sensed, but I don't think the ECM has any ability to diagnose the reason for the effects. If it is running well, then you are good to go. The engine mechanical noise will significantly diminish in cooler ambient conditions. | ||

thanks blake - i was beginning to think i was losing my mind, but another jaunt today proved it is running correctly, just not (the same sounds) what i was used to in the warmer weather. | ||

The older ECMs can detect broken wires and shorts, out of range and open circuits, intermitting and skewed no secondary on the hv side no. | ||

The ECM monitors all sensor lines as well as fuel pump, fan, injectors and AMC (if applicable) feedbacks and the primary sides of the coils for voltages out of range. Regards, Gunter |
