I LOVE MY my Uly but find the bars just a little too high. Has anyone installed lower bars? Any suggestions on good quality replacements? |

I was thinking about shorter bars as well---XB9SX CityX look like they might be an option.

I picked up the CityX bars as shown above and they fit great! I believe they were about $70-$75 at the dealer. |

Slowride- Any pics of the CityX bars on your Ulysses? Riding impressions? I'm moving from a Firebolt a Ulysses, swapping for CityX bars was on my list of future mods. |

I went flatter as well a lower with my new bars. I found a pressure point on the heel of my hand with the stock bend. The flatter bend spreads the load better but I am considering even an flatter bend to match that of my Multistrada. I have the MSR KX-Hi - 32" W 4" H 3.15" Sweep |

Try the bars from the TT, they worked great for me, (long arms, 37" sleeve), but watch out when you take the thing off road, the TT bars are shorter and more narrow, so when you go to stand or move up on the pegs, since you're now leaning forward, you're putting a lot of weight on the front wheel, which really sucks here on NJ sand trails. It's not easy pickin' this thing (Uly) at 61, weighs a lot more than my 200 KTM. THe TT bars are far more comfortable on the road for me than the stock Uly's. |

Thanks guys. I think the City X or TT bars will be the way to go. I'll have to check into it some more. Are the TT's higher than the X? |

Are you guys sure there is a difference between the City X, TT & Uly Bars? I have never looked that closely at them but it doesn't make that much since to have to stock 3 different sets of bars for 3 bikes that are almost the same. |

Hey FB, With regard to your Pro Taper Charmichael Bend bars, are they narrower than the stock Uly's? They seem so, unless that's just the photo? |

I'm not sure about the difference between the CityX and TT bars as they look the same, but both of them are definitely different than the Ulysses bars. Compared with the CityX bars the Ulysses bars are taller, wider, and have less turn-down. |

The measurement methods differ a bit. If you measure from to end to end across the span, it doesn't really give you the real width of the bars. I realized this when I bought another set. |

Johnboy777, It's you. The clamp area is the last two dimensions. Here's the link to the source of the data. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?142838/324349 Ft_bstrd, Can you elaborate about the width? How is the "real" width measured? |

Some measure end to end across the spread. Others measure end to end across the bend. Think of a trapezoid. Points A and D are at the bottom along the long side of the trapezoid. Points B and C are at the top along the short side of the trapezoid. Some measure from point A to point D. Others measure from point A through B and C to D. I bought a set of bars that were listed at 33". When I got them they were 28" across the span. The problem is that you don't really know how they are being measured. I do, however, believe all the measurements here are across the span. |

"Think of a trapezoid. Points A and D are at the bottom along the long side of the trapezoid. Points B and C are at the top along the short side of the trapezoid. Some measure from point A to point D. Others measure from point A through B and C to D." Ft_bstrd, After about six hours, I finally visualized your description. BEEEZAAAR! What company does it like that? I want to avoid it. How did you find out that's what they did? "George, you're the best. I am going to have to steal that idea." John H. Are you sure you didn't mean Jeremy? I may be the best but I didn't think I had anything worth stealing. George |

George, The LINK you gave me linked back to the page we are already on ... first I said "what the hell" , then laughed out loud... very funny, my good man. Personally, I think the only relevant #'s are A. width B. height and C. pullback or sweep. Everything else is just ancillary. . |

I think most do it normally, but I bought a set of TAG Metals bars, and the dimensions were completely not what I expected. They were much shorter than the dimensions stated. |

Here we go: Ulysses 2006 - 2007 Height(rise)=6-1/2" Width=30" Pullback(sweep)=9" Here's are great LINK for handlebar comparos: http://www.sideroadcycles.com/ImportedMotorcycles/ ImportHandlebars/StockBarsOne.html BTW the Uly pullback(sweep) #'s listed on the website seems wrong to me ...9" for the sweep seems off. John, Not to put too fine a point on this but the clamping area CAN be just as important. Some bars have quite short clamping area and can't be used on a Uly. Usually, the motocross bars have the shorter clamping areas in my experience. George |
