can i do a straight swap from the twin valve springs on my 99 m2 to single beehive valve springs from an xb?if not would i have to do much to get them to fit? |

The diameter of the springs are smaller on the top so you would need the XB upper collar and keepers. The XB valve stems are smaller. Looks like you should walk away from this idea pain and suffering.... |

could the upper collars be machined for my valve stems,what about spring length both free and preloaded? |

ok,lighter by how much? 10-15g.if the inner dia of the inner spring is the same as the inner dia of the beehive spring and the free length and loaded length of the outer spring and the beehive spring are the same they should be a straight swop?the xb springs are rated for 7500rpm which would be 24.2 mps,i want springs to take my engine to 7100rmp-22.9 mps well within their limit so heavier valves shouldnt i would have thought be a problem |

OK so you would need valves, valve guides, springs, keepers, upper collars.. more stuff? I don't think anyone has done this. It's probably much more simple to use XB heads. |

if i could afford it it would have been done by now,just looking for a cheap way of putting in better springs ?just wandered if it was possible |

Head,cylinder-w/valve guides/seats $288.00 there is a PART NUMBER for a HEAD with valve guides, seats, valves, springs, collars and keepers, "BUT" at this time "i" do not know what it is ??? |

Perhaps your best approach would be to look into sportster hop up parts. I'm pretty sure that the stock thunderstorm head's springs are pretty good. It might be really hard to improve upon them. Hey! I just had an idea: What if you reduced the weight of the valve gear instead? I think our engines use steel pushrods and steel valve collars. Perhaps you could replace those with titanium or aluminum? |

Don't forget, if you use XB heads on a tuber, you have the added expense of the special front mount. The mount is almost as expensive as an entire head... ... also, remember it's the identical head on the Sportster you want to use, not the XB head. |
