Hi, just looking for opinions on which steering damper works best for an '03 XB9s. I've seen some bolting to the isolator bolt (LSL) and others attached along the right side of the frame (Hyperpro and Storz). The Storz sticks way out in front and looks like an antenna...but I read somewhere it was pretty good. Thanks. |

Hey Saszta - I just bought the XBRR Ohlins damper. It was about the same $ as the others and OH SO SLICK - the Ohlins quality, click-type adjustable too. Just amazing. Anyhow, the bracket mounts to the steering head and the left fork. It is nothing short of perfect. It has a real live Buell part number - get it from the dealership. |

Yea- I'll send pic's. The d'ship ordered the wrong fork tube clamp - so I'm waiting for that to get here. The bracket that mounts to the frame is exquisite. There might be a little "snag" with the wire harness and clearance between the the top of the lower triple tree and the damper mount. It may require some MOD-I-F**K-A-TIONs. Anyhow, this is a "race only" component. |

Okay - here are some pic's... I don't think this is going to be easy. Right now, I'm thinking about a way to mount it on top - like a "normal" motorcycle. But it all seems like overkill to get an Ohlins (adjustable) damper instead of the LSL that mounts on the Isolator bolt. Right now, I dunno I'm going to sleep on it. |

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET. My friend and I finished this last night. I had to grind away a little bit of the allen bolt that screws up into the bracket fastened to the frame - but SHAZAM!!! Man is it clean. Tucked way up out of the way, adjustable, Ohlins, yeah baby.

I have the LSL. I'd heard of the Ohlins for Buell, and that Buell had approved them. Trouble was that no one else had heard of them, not Buell and not Ohlins here. The LSL tucks away neatly but this Ohlins is something else, and the fork strap is above the lower triple clamp so no potential clearance issues. Someone has done some thinking. Hey Kedo, would you mind posting the Buell part number please. Edit. The Ohlins part number would also be useful (Message edited by Petebueller on January 19, 2008) (Message edited by Petebueller on January 19, 2008) (Message edited by PeteBueller on January 20, 2008) |

Kedo, I also like the mounting of this damper better than any other design. The pics looks like an XB12R. I'm interested in a mount for an XB12Scg. I'm not sure if this type of mount will work for any XBxxS. Thanks for the detailed pictures. Any information on part numbers would be helpful Thanks, wpa-dave |

Wpadave- The Ohlins part number for the damper is: SD 121 (Steering damper stroke 68). I don't have the Buell part numbers for the brackets. Your dealership can order them directly from Buell. The XBRR parts catalogue has them in it. I hope this helps.. BTW it really works great. |

Kedo, Thanks for the info. I'll check into the XBRR parts at my local Buell dealer. |

So Kedo, did you get the damper directly from Ohlins or Buell? Is there a reason if so? |

Yabuell- It is a XBRR part. I ordered it through my H-D/Buell Dealership. I don't understand your second question: "Is there a reason if so?" What does that mean? |

Kedo, I was just wondering if you bought the entire assembly from buell or did you buy the shock from ohlins and the brackets from buell to save money? Can I use the same triple trees? |

Yabuell - to save money? You've got to be kidding! We're talking about an Ohlins steering damper for a Buell. Like I said... It was ordered with a Buell part number from the XBRR catalog. Have you talked to your dealer? If not, try that. I can't help more than I have on this thread. Good luck. |

I'm having problems getting any info down here. I want to go through local dealers but I an trying to find a Buell part number, and if there are variants then for the size or the for strap I need to find one for a fork leg with a 56mm outer tube. If someone could post or PM it would be appreciated. If it is not permitted to post XBRR part numbers, could someone post the part number of the catalogue please? Peter |

Thanks for the responses and the pics! I've just found out that GPR makes one for Buells. See here: http://gprstabilizer.com/shopping_sportbikes_buell _xb-firebolt_All A little pricey but looks good and they have a great rep. After some wobbles on my last couple of rides I think it's worth investing in it. I'm going to see if I can find a cheaper retailer. Will keep you posted. |
