So what/where do you have to go to get buell specific training? I've always done all my own work and would actually like to get trained for it. And id like to learn about the new engine. | ||

I believe this to be true: Only HD dealership employees can get training on HD and Buell products. Asbjorn | ||

I also believe that is the case, although maybe in the future places like MMI might offer it. | ||

See if you can get a part time job at a H-D/Buell shop working on Saturdays when they're backed up. Negotiate the training as part of the package. | ||

you do have to work at a dealer to take the training. and sure mmi may add the training in the future....but not anytime soon.. all the classes that are offered fill in about two hours after becoming available gang....best bet is buy the first service manual you can get your hands on and read. | ||

Since this is a Rotax engine, might training be available through other Rotax training sources (i.e. aviation/powersports?) | ||

This engine, we've been through this, shares little with prior Rotax products. There is a comprehensive training program being conducted in Wisconsin. It requires that participants execute an agreement to not "steal the technology" (or something to that effect) and if I were buying an 1125r I'd insist on seeing my dealer participated. | ||

This engine, we've been through this, shares little with prior Rotax products This I'm aware of. However, I thought maybe..perhaps...Rotax might be kind enough to offer training outside of Buell's auspicious eyes(it IS their product, after all!)...for a buck or two, naturally. | ||

the rotax was designed specifically for Buell and the training stipulation just says that if you go for a dealer you cant teach at a school for a year after taking the class.....I am going in feb. will let you know how easy it is to work on | ||

Good grief, it's a motor not a transporter. Get the shop manual. done. All training does is help you do it faster, not better. Unless you're working at a dealership, you've got time to sit down with a beer or cup of coffee and read up. Everything you need to know is in the manual. Z | ||

Zac, Right you are bro....but who else pays for a trip to Milwaukee .. the perks are cool...and I wish i had the time to have a beer and read up lol. the place i work at is so cool....(how cool is it) they are paying me my regular wages..... paying for the hotel.....(the chic is mine) they supply food ... and the hotel offers free beverages the first day in the hotel bar.... and ...now that the museum is open ...i am going to have a ton of fun and get to take one all the way apart....thats the kicker. sorry if i am hopped up ..i just think its cool. And if you have never been in the university or heard about it ...they have cutaways of almost every part you can imagine including fully moving electrically motorized motors spining I just think its cool that they take all the time and effort to do it. | ||

Buzz - I'm jazzed for you, and you are "Who this is for" as a dealer wrench. It's a giant "feather in your cap" for the future and a nice "paid vacation". If I was in your shoes, I'd be stoked too. I'm jealous for all the cutaways. I'm saying that for "Owners", the factory training would be a waste, as we aren't under the time constraints that a dealer wrench is. Betcha I'm almost as excited when I get my shop manual as you are to go to school for the engine. Gearheads... Z | ||

Buzzie im sitting in chicago doing the same thing. well not for cool as buell but for benz. And well to say the least im not as excited as you are about it. but hey.... it is nice though, every so often, get flown out somewhere eat and drink and sleep on works dime, plus get paid more then I normally would for the week. 4 months ago it was houston (yea, shit hole I know, but I used to live there so it was nice to visit old friends) 11 months ago it was florida..........so on and so on. but I agree with zac. get a manual and some beer and a few bucks for parts you might break and sit down in the garage, turn on some eagles and get it done!!! | ||

Sounds like a party Robert. Should be sending you some wiring pix soon. Buell/HD shop down the road got their 1125R today, expect mine tomorrow. Enjoy the training. I don't get to do that too often. My company sent me to Massachusetts for a few days last July to learn our mechanical test fixture(Instron), that was a cool trip. Z | ||

1125R technical instructor lead training is starting 04Feb2008. Two DVDs, the second including on-line instruction, have been made and the first has been out already for in-shop exposure training. The second is due soon and will cover specific service procedures. |
