I would try and contact johnnyuly directly and see what is going on. I believe the last update was trying to get an owner in Germany to make their bike available for design / fitting of the brackets. |

Isn't Johnny_Uly deployed? He's not logged in since 10/29. Let's hope he's safe and just unable to log in right now. |

Hi Folks, I'm the German guy that was contacted by John. Had no contact for a while. Even if he would contact me, I could not be able to help at the moment. I'm in the hospital and had surgery for 2 slipped discs. My right leg is paralyzed and according to the MD it will take up to 9 month before I will be back in good shape. Happy holidays to all of you. Ride safe Werner |

Wow Werner, Sorry to hear you are out of commission at the moment, and I hope your recovery is going well... Of course, wouldn't this be the perfect opportunity to loan out your Uly so the brackets can be fitted? |

I think you may be onto something. The HB Journey bags are the Uly equal. Must research more! |

Has anyone mounted the Journey bags on a Uly? |

The H-B Journey bags are what Buell sells for the Uly. |

WHat are the smaller bags? Juniors? Will they work? |

If you have the H-B racks on your Uly, you can use ANY H-B bag on them. It all depends on the style you prefer and the volume you need. The Journeys are quite wide but hold a full-face helmet. They make a Gobi with more volume but the shape won't take a helmet. (Message edited by gotj on December 23, 2007) |

The HB Journey/Buell cases are reversible left/right, some of the other HB's aren't. HB mounts fasten the case at the back, Buell version at the front. I fitted my cases to my brother's KTM just fine so I'm assuming his cases (not with him at that time) would fit my Uly likewise. Some of the HB designs might fit the Buell mounts but have to be mounted backwards which might look goofy if it would work at all. I wonder why HB doesn't make mounts for the Lightning Long or the Uly??? |

I have those H&B quick brackets on my cityX. They are not exactly quick release. there is a bar that connects the two brackets that has allen head fasteners on them. I left those un locktighted (sp) and lost a set. the fasteners are just zoos pin fasteners and do come out fast. I mounted mine to the bike permanently. I would cover the hoops with some number plates if you wanted a clean look for the hoops when the bags were not on the bike. |

Hey Everyone, I am back! Sorry I have been out of touch... I got back in October then went out west to pick up my Uly. After staying a month in Cali, I made a cross country trip back to FL on the Uly. Good times! Possible ride report pending... Anyway, I have been pretty busy but am good to go now Harleywern, I didn't know you were injured, how are you doing now? I pray a speedy and full recovery for you. Well, I know two people living in Germany and neither can do the fitting. Anyone else know someone? That is pretty much all that we need to do now. |

Welcome back Johnny_u - sorry to hear Werner...Godspeed in recovery, I hope to hear that you are riding soon. I have not live in Deutschland for 20 years so no help here, but I am still in on the brackets. |

Hi Folks, a happy new year to all of you and thank's for your good wishes. I'm out of the hospital since Thursday, but have to go to REHAB for the next 6 weeks. My leg is still not working properly and on top of it, I'm having problems with my right hand now. Cross your fingers that I don't need another surgery on my neck. Also the Doctor allowed me to drive my car, it will be a couple of month before I'm back in the saddle. Good news - the Doctor told me that motorcycling is good for my back. If there is no rush, I will get the bike to SW- Motech as soon as possible. But this can be May. We do not have many Uly's here in Germany (this is BMW GS Country), so chances are slim to find somebody that is willing to bring his / her bike to them. Ride safe Werner |

Glad to hear you are out of the hospital. To spite me wishing you a speedy recovery, don't push it! Heal properly. I like how doctors in Germany encourage riding That does not happen too often here! Keep us updated on your progress Werner. |

Awesome Wern! Glad to hear you are on the mend.....We will stand at the ready and wait patiently for a fit up by the SW Motech folks. Those bag mounts on a Uly would be the absolute best! Thanks for keeping the effort going and best of luck with your healing. |

Dear friends, last week I received an e-mail from SW-Motech regarding the removable brackets. I don't think they will start on that project soon. They had planned this for January but have one injured worker plus more important projects. As mentioned in earlier postings, the Uly is not selling very good in Europe. The leading Motorcycle magazine in Germany stated that you can get a 20% discount on new bikes. All I can do at the moment is give them a call and see if there is a chance for production. Also I would be interested in one of their center stands. I keep you informed. Ride safe Werner |

last week I received an e-mail from SW-Motech regarding the removable brackets. I don't think they will start on that project soon. They had planned this for January but have one injured worker plus more important projects. This really blows! I didn't realize that SW Motech was small enough that being one man down would have an impact on development. Nor did I realize that Uly's are that scarce in Europe. I'm getting close to selling my Bandit (I hope). The Uly would not be far behind. I really do think the stock brackets look awful when the bags are not on the bike. I had gotten my hopes up that the SW Motech brackets would be a viable solution. Too bad. Tipsy |
