Oops, Sybren, glad you found the discussion okay. I meant to leave a note that I had moved it to the Storm Fronts. Man, I sure wish I could join y'all. Be sure to take lot's of great photos and post them here like last year. And... Any of y'all have a moto-mountable video camera? |

Racers, a lot of the planning for Croix takes place on the Dutch Buell Forum. This is a Dutch forum but feel free to post in english, no problemo mon amie. The dutch Buellers will also keep Badweb updated. We have arranged a hotel in Bethune, close to Croix. Looks like most Buellers (about 20) will stay there the night before the track day and the night after. You can also book a room for one of these nights. If you want to make a reservation, just let us know on this board. The Amsterdam buellers will leave om May 8-th, probably about 9:00. I suggest we meet at the Shell station on the A4, under the bridge restaurant just outside Amsterdam ( shell.nl) routenet.nl. Easy to find for any rider, you can't miss it. It looks like we will do the same spectacular ride as last year. That was a beauty and I wouldn't mind doing that again and show it to the new Buellers. But if enyone has better plans, just post it! Get ready.. |

Sybren, Cool. I'd suggest that we aim to LEAVE at 9.00 as well, so we should show up earlier, otherwise it'll be 10.30 before everyone's had a coffee/talk etc and we'll get there when it's nearly dark again. Blake. When are you arriving? PPiA |

Yes, at 8:30 we meet and at 9.00 we leave. Rocket: if you need an invitation from Buell Benelux, some dudes got 2 so they can send you one. I also have a digital version. |

S3T Mitch, You don't have to notify the hotel. Hein reserved plenty of rooms for both nights so it will be no problem... See ya in Bethune!! |

Rockets got a few things on his mind....I was talking to him the other day and he was obviously somewhere else throughout the call, BTW Rocket, if you need a weekend break, bring you and your family up to the Lakes.....free food and accommodation....you know it makes sense....you just have to ask!!! For what its worth the above offer is open to anyone else who is in the area.....nice views, walks, twisty roads, good beer..... |

Thanks a ton Stoef, I did the bank transfer today for the pre-registration. I just replaced my head gasket on the rear cylinder and since I had the tool box open I went ahead and threw on a Vance & Hines slip-on. Now my "bagger buell" goes "BLUMMM-BLUMMM" instead of "puff puff"! See you in Croix, Mitch |

Hey Buelligans, I was bored and found this link for the track in Croix. (http://www.circuitdecroix.com) It's in French, but (http://babelfish.altavista.com) will do the translating....especially for us single language Americans. Mitch |

So, I've lived to see out another year of Croix in France. This year the main group from Amsterdam was a little smaller, as some of the guys didn't want to risk the speeding fines again, and left seperately. Actually most of them seemed to go in that group (the Rockets) as there were only six of us in the "big" group now. One of them was Sybren with his girlfriend, and they ended up riding on their own after a while, as she was a more sensible rider than us. Then we were four. Hein(R1100S), Rob(X1), a bloke who's name I can't remember (but goes by Chief Pep on the Dutch site(X1), and me(M2). We did our best to try and balance rationality and fun and dodge the speed cameras again. Track day and about half a dozen of us decided to try out group one and play with the fast boys. I learnt that if I'm dragging my pegs and I shift my weight too quickly, I'll unload the front tyre and we will both slide along the track into the kitty litter. Damn. Only minor damage, mainly paint, so the bike and I were still good for the rest of the day. The guys running the show were kind enough to let Hein run his R1100S on the track, so I'm especially pleased to be able to say that my M2 spanked his BMW. I think he's missing his S1W now..... They had a Firebolt at the track, but unfortunately it was an early preproduction model and was not allowed to be ridden. That was OK. I got to do the touchy feely thing with it, and if I enjoy the test ride, I think I'm going to want one. It looked really nice in the flesh. Cool bike. Sorry, but for some reason this year, I didn't click the camera at all except on the ride down where Rob decided to re-route his breathers. So, enjoy. I'm sure when Stoef etc make it on here, there will be pictures a plenty. PPiA PS. For anyone confused with "the Rockets" comment above, it has been coined by us as the term when referring to someone who is a wuss or a limp-**** etc. Feel free to ask Rocket why he didn't make it this year. Every technical excuse he came up with, I was able to counter, until the truth came out...... the soft-****. |

Again we had a great time this year. Too bad PPiA was kitty littering his M2 and some others had damage to their bikes also. Even after going off PPiA was too fast for all of us, so nobody could catch him. Hein did very well on the R1100S and I have to say: his Beemer is bloody fast. Olaf was also going into the kitty litter and decided to stop at that point. After sliding my X1 real bad a few times I decided the same. Rob broke his race-muffler at the end and proved that it always can be done louder! Here are some pics taken with my camera, there will be more if Hein, Olaf, Jerome and the other guys post their pics. Not many action pictures this time because my (cheap) digital cam is a little too slow for that... The slow group Arriving at the terras '58 Chevy? A local hero dropped his bike while staring at the Buells!!! Kappie, Chief Pep, Olaf and PPiA tired from the trip Leaky gasket from Kees L>R: PPiA, SteveP, Jilles, Olaf, Kappie, Rob Hein and Erik Chief Pep, PPiA etc... Erik and Marco Sybren still waiting for his food.... Olaf enjoying his Pizza (NOT!) Jilles, Erik, Madeleine, Sybren and Marco At the parking Is it small or what?! Stoef, Olaf, Hein, PPiA and Rob Rob, Hein, PPiA, Olaf and Stoef Rob Hein Stoef Jens from Germany was on his RSS1200. Peter Grabo from the Borgies forum was with him. Of course Mich and Steve were in the pub! Hey guys, how are you doing? The Irish clock was a bit optimistic... Rocket we missed you!!! The story was that you... |

Yeah, I had a great time! My girlfriend joined us on her monster 600. On the way to Croix we decided to split and ride together as the duc couldn't safely keep up with the Buells. The track day was excellent. The first sessions were slowed down by the marshals so we could warm the bikes and tires up and get to know the track. Also, the weather wasn't too good so it was wise to slowly build up the speed. No need to say that at the end of the day we were racing like gods! During the first session the gas filter broke on my X1. Thankfully Pep noticed it before the bike could catch fire. Unfortunately nobody had a spare gas filter and all the bikeshops were closed. Then Erik's bike f*cked up its primary (original spanner broke, probably) so he couldn’t ride any more and I got his gas filter. He later donated his exhaust to Rob. One cool dude! During lunch I got to meet some new buellers. Fun thing about Buellers: they don't only choose a different bike, they are different. After the race I met Jens and his RSS 1200. What a bike! I had never seen one before and I didn't like it on the pictures but.. it's gorgeous! Jens had it modified, one of the main changes is the swingarm: it was stretched 100 mm. This gives the bike good-looking proportions and improves riding. No need to say we got very drunk that night. Our usual bar closed early so we found refuge in the local disco/karaokebar. To get there we got a lift from 2 young streetrally riders. Better than Nintendo, scared the shits out of me! French small-town discos are something special. Everyone that can't sleep is there. Weird. We got a lift back to the hotel from a drunk police officer. Vive la France! Next day we rode home with the 'no speeding tickets' group. Happily we lost them so we could crank it up and blast our way home. This year was fun but I did miss our international friends. You are all welcome for next year! And Rocket.. get out of bed! |

Well guys, Just Your luck then, I had to break in my rehoned cilinders and new pistons! Which took me about the distance to get into Belgium, after which the first couple of mingers were a fact. Next Year I won't lose the key to my bike in some sleazy nightclub and make You guys wait up for me to get the x1 on Frank's trailer the next morning. Honesty commands me to say I also had to search for the bike's spare-key that evening at my place. Too bad about Eric's primary and Pete's sliding, yet that could work to our benefits as he'll have to trade it in for a Firebolt and we get to test it one-by-one, like we know him. Next Year I hope to bring the missus on her own Buell. Keep checkin' the meeting posts on DBF, as there'll have to be organized a quiet Croix-afterparty. That's quiet as in Pro-series exhaust-quiet. Back after a weekend of shooting I finally have time to post some pictores of Croix. We had a great time again thanks to the fantastic organization of Buell Netherlands. A big thumbs up to Marc Opde Beeck for letting me on the track on the R1100S while lacking a Buell... (BTW interesting comparision between Firebolt/S1 & R1100S here http://www.cmgonline.com/racing/CTRS/2002/diaries/part2/index.html ) The trip down to France was great again, I think this year we did see all the police cameras and acted accordingly... Thanks Rob for making us stop so many times because of your oil spewing problems so I could make my phone calls (I was working actually) I didn't take any pictures of the wrenching and beering around the hotel, but gave my camera to Jerome who took some great pics off da fast gang on the track. I was very pleased with all the power aboard the R1100S but have to admit that the Buell is far more flickable on a short track like this. It might have something to do with my tire pressure being too high and my rider's abilities being not soo high, but every time I tried to lean over as far as I would on the S1, the rear end started sliding away. Anyway, had a great time and who knows maybe one day there will be a Buell be parked next to the R1100S... CU all later, Beemer Hein in Am*dam |
