Awesome! He was really riding the bike and really moving at a good clip considering he was on a street bike. |

I wrecked the KLR250 twice today... once on a hidden diagonal downed log (washed out the front) and one going up a steep muddy hill (rear got in one groove, front got in another, and I had a slow motion high side). Hauled it back up, straightened the mirrors, collected various turnsignal pieces (leave nothing but tire tracks) and continued the ride. Can't imagine doing that on a 9sx.. you da man (and you must have a strong back). I was thinking today I need *serious* knobbies. |

I don't suppose anyone remembers "Cowboy Jim" Fennell from the old scramble days in AMA District 2?? I'm talkin' late 60's early 70's. He used to ride a BSA or a Royal Enfield, somethin' like that, while the rest of us were on CZs' Bultacos and Maicos. Reminds me of that whacko. At least the engines went full circle, back to 4 strokes again!! With a 19" front wheel, that Sporty should work better at that than my Uly. How come the shocks did'nt break off?? |

Hi, Came across this posting when searching online for mentions of Jim Fennell, and thought you might like a picture of the bike. (If anyone's still monitoring such an old post...) He was my dad and raced that bike (and others) through the 50's, 60's and 70's primarily in AMA District 2 & the New York area.
It's a 1961 Triumph Trophy 500cc Twin, and although it hasn't been started in years, it's still in pretty good condition. It's an "eternal" spring project to get it started and I still hold out hope that I'll get to it next year. Anyway, hope you enjoy the pic... ~ Jim Fennell |
