To Whom It May Concern:
Please dont blame an American for not buying American. Blame an American that didnt invest the time and money to stay competitive and offer a product that is better than the over seas part. Everything I buy that is not made in America is message to American business: Quite crying, update/upgrade, and get competitive.

In 1976 I bought a used Pinto with a FREAKING ENGINE MADE IN BRAZIL!!! Metric too!!
In 1978, the first new vehicle I ever owned (until the 2001 S3) was a 78 F150 pickup with a freaking engine made in Windsor, Canada!! (ever wonder why it's called a 351 Windsor instead of the Cleveland???) I never even thought it was an issue then. Guess I shoulda been more educated.

My first day in Wisconsin over Thanksgiving vacation, my turds in Wisconsin were actually made with materials consumed in California!
Were my turds made in Wisconsin or made in California?

I don't own a Nissan, but I am seriously considering one for my next car. The V6 and V8 engines are completely manufactured by Tennesseans. The Altima, Xterra, Maxima, and Frontier are all assembled by Tennesseans. Nissan recently moved their National Headquarters to Franklin.
The material components of the vehicles and the assembly occur in my home state.
I am also considering one of the new Saturns. I really like the new Auras. GM has finally produced cars I might be interested in. I like the new Malibu as well. |

Very interesting topic. I'm a Canadian and don't give a rats ass that my M2 was American Made. Its a great bike , Japanese parts and all.
One thing though, American companies are very innovative and tenacious when it comes to business practices. So much so, that they have expanded all over the world and draw products/ resources/whatever back to the USA. Kinda kicks the crap outta the BUY AMERICAN theme when your own companies are doing a good share of the importing.
Its a world economy nowadays where goods and services are easily moved around the planet. Its also a time of adjustment and there are some pains.
But if you look at your history(American Made) and all the adversity your nation has overcome in its relativly short exsistance, I have no doubt you guys will come up smelling like roses. |

The 1st time I saw a Buell, was on the cover of Cycle World back in the 80s. It retailed for around $20,000!!! IN THE 80s!!!!
Thank goodness they have the presence of mind to outsource a few things. (I like my gold 6 spokes better than PMs anyway).
For everyone who wants 'pure' American made machines, there's some out there, like Ecosse, and a few others. Problem is we can't afford 'em.
Thanks to Buell we have great motorcycles that are actually affordable and a blast to ride. |

Yeah . . . where were you guys when us Buell owners . . all 27 of us. . . were having to pay $16,995.00?
That . . . doing some quick ciphering. . . would be like about $50,000 today.
The good news is I was thrilled with the Buell then. . . I'm thrilled today.

And . . by the way . . . so were my Grandfathers Indians and Harley-Davidsons during the time he was having his job threatened (they cut his pay in half) for organizing in the early years of the I.B.E.W.

That IS good to hear..btw, the ninja was purchased before I was in the bro'hood, and I sure do hope to amass as fine a collection of machinery as yourself. I sure do love my firebolt.
494 huh? I tramped around up there for a while. Really got on well w/ the cheeseheads. Even still keep in touch w/ some 159 guys. Good to hear from some bros on this site!!

My Grandfather, father, brother and myself have been Local 428. Worked 17 years out of the hall, but not the last 12. Still have my ticket and plan to go back in about 3 if nothing changes. I (see the) Bug Every Where! |

Yup, I started with 494 in college as a Material Handler, then moved on to my apprenticeship. My Dad's been a member for over 40 years. |
