Some of you are probably aware of the water shortage we are currently facing here in the south. The county I live in has a full outdoor use water ban in effect. I got a "warning ticket" a few weeks back for hosing off some unknown crud left by some youngsters throwing said crud out the window of a moving cage. My next offense gets my water shut off(the 1st time we were NOT under a full ban). I really like to keep my machinery clean. I've got about 3k worth of road grime, dust, brake dust, smudges and fingerprints that is driving me mad. I don't want to risk the local pay-n-spray because of the high pressure. Anybody have any suggestions? | ||

Any way you can strap a small bucket and sponge on to the car wash and fill the bucket and give it a good hand washing? Most car washes now have a spot free rinse that wouldn't be too harmful. Just my .02 | ||

Late at night.... when EVERYONE is asleep and out of sight...  We cant even wash our Police Vehicles down here.... I have gone through 3 bottles of windshield fluid. I feel your pain... Matt (SOUTH GA.) | ||

+1 on the DriWash and Guard. i use it too, but.... if yer broke, you can get a regular squirt bottle and water down your favorite automotive wax at the faucet. spray it INTO THE RAG and go to town. one wet rag, one dry. wax on, wax off, daniel san. | ||

I take a washing mitt and some Armorall carwash in a backpack to the local car wash. Wet everything down real well and go to work. I try to go late to avoid pissing people off in line. To re wet the mitt, I use the spigot at the chamois ringer station. I also use Harley Spray polish between washings....good stuff (or Hondabrite) (Message edited by ironken on November 30, 2007) | ||

You wash the bike? I usually just run it through the puddles to get the big chunks of mud off. I will leave it out if there is rain at work, that suffices for "washing" the bike for my needs. | ||

I use a product made by Kawasaki called wipe down on my Ultra classic, it can be used on the windshield, chrome and the paint. It is only $5.50 a can here in Florida. Cheap and works great} | ||

I never use a hose to wash my bike, I fill a bucket with hot water, use soft rags, and Protect-All products. Degreaser for the funky spots, Wash for the rest, and Spray Wax for everything. Eagle One Nano Polish for the chrome or polished aluminum bits. I do it inside the garage.     | ||

Was it intentional? If so why did you not follow them to their house and wash it there? Anyway, many people, including people I know, swear by the Honda cleaner that Mikef5000 posted. BTW it's no longer Honda branded, but it is still available. | ||

funny ... We have all the water we could need in ohio here and I never use it to clean my bike either. maybe I can send you a couple buckets? Stay away from anything with ammonia in it like windex.(and S100, just doesnt work very well in my eyes) I good couple lint free rags and a good can of your favorite polish, engine bright works good on the gas tank/swing arm paint. But hey if you got chunks of stuff on there, spray on some soap out in the rain! | ||

if you got a garage just drag the hose into the garage and shut the door. Thats what I did over the summer, we had the same band and my bike went almost 2 months with out a bath. I finally gave in and did it in my garage. | ||

The new stuff that Mikef5000 posted is just as good as the old Honda Polish. It even smells the same. I've gottem freebies of products from www.bostonsoapworks.com and it is high quality stuff. I especially like the blue waterless cleaner. | ||

If you notice my picture: The can on the left is the old "PRO HONDA CLEANER" See triangle emblem. The can on the right is the new "ORIGINAL CLEANER". That picture was actually to show that they are both exactly the same, just about 6-10 months ago, Honda decided to go green, and take their name off anything that wasn't environmentally friendly. Honda didn't make it, never did. They just had their name put on it. Now it's the exact same thing made by the same company, just without Honda's name on it. And it still kicks ass! | ||

I discovered a nifty workaround for cleaning my Z51 Corvette wheels by using very little water and the spray head from a discarded Roundup container. This spray head has about a 3 ft. plastic hose that I stick into a soapy water pail and can then squirt either a stream or foamy water precisely to the surface. Using a thin long-handle brush and the spray head, I can clean the inner rims while keeping the huge cast iron rotors (fairly) dry which, if wet, then rust quickly and splatter rusty gunk on the inward rims of the just-cleaned wheels. This method works on the bike too if, say, I just want to wash one area at a time without using the hose. | ||

Seriously, how is this spray on the translucent plastic? I used this stuff alot! I works great on pretty much the whole bike. The Dri-Wash is great but takes longer to use as it will leave a wax like residue on anything porous. | ||
