It has been one hell of a roller coaster ride... As some may recall I had some issues with my engine... A week ago I got a call from the Glendale dealer and they said that they thought that it was just a bent push-rod but Buell will not cover it... Unpleasant, but not too expensive... Well today I got another call, the Tech started to dig into the engine only to discover that the engine is pretty much shot; The the cylinders are gouged up, the pistons are chewed up, the connecting rods are loose... All sorts of hell. Very grim news indeed, they submitted another will-call to Buell... Just moments ago I got a call back, and Buell will cover the repairs! I am speechless, I knew that Buell would not disappoint... I am so happy that I did not loose faith in Buell I would like to thank everyone here for their support Most importantly I would like to thank all the great folks at Buell for making this possible. Thank you! |

Great news that your bike will finally get back together again. Warranty fixes all depend on HOW the dealer represents it to the factory too. The dealer doesn't make the kind of money on warranty fixes that they do on straight labor-rate repairs so often they're not too motivated to push for you. I had good luck with Glendale supporting me on warranty fix on the XB when I missed a shift and screwed up and DOUBLE downshifted going into turn 1 at Willow Springs on a track day (before it was a racebike). Over-revved and bent pushrod, valve/piston collisions. They went to bat for me and the factory backed them up. It's important to have a dealer who will work with you. You shoulda met the Glendale service manager on Inside Pass day (Tom Castro)... we mighta converted a hard-core Harley cruiser dude to the Buell way of thinking - he was dragging his knee by the end of the day! Eric Antillion - Buell service/repair specialist was out there playing too. Glendale does have some really good folks on staff. Kinda helps that the managers, sales and service staff are ALL on the track with you. It's a different culture. Yeah... I'm kinda a shill for them but I've bought two bikes at FULL RETAIL from them before I started racing and have had no regrets. Good to read that you look like you'll be FINALLY getting your poor XB all together again! |

Sounds similar that what happened to my hubbys bike (was an XB12R too). They were going to have to replace the entire engine. Only after calling the Buell dealer that he bought the bike from, they offered to take the bike back for a trade in if there was something else he wanted and he got the TT (for a very small financial hit). He loves the TT and is very happy with his decision. Glad to hear Buell is taking care of you. |

Being a Buell owner is being part of something special. I am so glad you got a satisfactory resolution Peter. Maybe it won't ping anymore either! Cheers! Asbjorn |

I am thrilled If the pinging stops that would even better, and I can postpone the purchase of an 1125r until it makes more sense financially... But after this, all my doubts about getting an 1125r have vanished... That WILL be my next bike. I cannot wait to ride the Buell again... Especially in the rain, as the race RC51 that am borrowing currently is afraid of the rain (it left me stranded today, after deciding that water was not its thing). Again a big thanks to Buell! |
