Here are a few pictures of my lightning long.

I just did a few minor cosmetic changes but it really made quite a difference. List of changes include:

Ceramic Coated exhaust

Powder coated subframe rails

Chopped the cheese grater and powdercoated the tail light housing.

Painted the front electrical control housing and lower fairing

Added frame pucks and swingarm/fork sliders

And had Mesafirebolt modify my exhaust. It sounds very nice.

I plan on replacing the turn signals sometime soon. Other than that, I am very happy with how it turned out. The entire process took a couple weeks but I was really dragging my feet. The hardest part was getting that damned header pipe back on.

What kind of effect does that ceramic coat have on heat emission?

It is definitely hotter. I welcome the heat now when its cold out, but during the summer I have a feeling my right leg is going to be very warm.

Well...I guess the old saying goes "Its not a matter of IF, but WHEN"

Well, tonight it happened, my first time laying a bike down. Thankfully it was at very slow speeds, but painful nonetheless.

I was pulling out of my usual parking spot at work around 7 tonight and lowsided her while taking a slow right hand into the lot. I didn't take into account that it was already below freezing and my tires were COLD...I took the turn too sharp and down she went. It happened instantly, and I watched the bike slide away while I rolled a couple times. It slid about 8-10 feet and spun 180 degrees so it was facing me. Of course there were about 8 other employees walking out to their cars that saw and heard the whole thing happen. They all ran over and helped my lift it up and made sure I was ok. I am not going to hear the end of it for a couple days.

My Buell frame pucks and Dark Horse Moto sliders did the job they were designed to do.

The total damage assessment isn't too bad, i'll have to replace the frame puck and delrin slider buttons. My mirror was also destroyed, but I have a spare laying around. My rear break lever was ground down a bit, but is still perfectly usable. It didn't even get bent. The only part that really gets me is the road rash on the header. I JUST got them done, now they have a nice silver scratch on them.

As far as personal injury goes, HUGE hit to the ego and a little road rash on the right knee. Nothing significant. The carbon fiber knuckles on my gloves got some wear, as well as the palm but are still wearable.

Bleh....just wanted to vent. I guess i'll have to update my photos now.

You poor bastard. All that work and then this happens.

Well this will give you a chance to improve on your original ideas.

...it's the sliding that seems to get these headers... mine are rashed from a bit of skidding- at higher speeds I weep to say.

However, glad you're alright. +1 monkey on improving original ideas!

Thank god for sliders and frame pucks. Even though this was a very low speed crash, I would have a lot more to be upset about if I didn't have that stuff.

Looks like those sliders did a great job.

That header will touch right up with a black magic marker : )

*So* close to coming out unscathed!

Bike looks great! I love black vehicles. Sorry to hear she took a hit but at least it was minor and you are ok.
