500hp battery powered dragbike under 8 sec 1/4! Kind of scary sounding to me at least. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHtAkM3CYLA (Message edited by electraglider_1997 on November 15, 2007) |

Not nearly as impressive when it smacks into a minivan and pitches it's rider. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfVX71YqPuQ (Message edited by ft_bstrd on November 15, 2007) |

What in the hell were they thinking, letting that moron on that bike without a helmet and doing a burnout outside a track situation. He's probably a quad now. |

I believe the "moron" was the inventor and I understand that he's fine. A really bright guy experiencing an moment of bad judgment. |

I don't care if he's the inventor. He's still a moron. Book smart, street dumb comes to mind. |

Doing a burnout in the city on the sidewalk? WTF? The guy deserved to be laid out. Sorry. He looks pretty old for a squid. |

This quote from the inventors web site... I’m Fine (scapes and cuts) Bike is a little bent…. Jump to Comments First off, I’m just a bit scraped up. Embarrassed of course. I had not intended the bike to move in the soapy water, just spin the tire. Got it slowed down to about 20 mph. Front wheel is bent, as are front forks. Cowling is not nearly as pretty as it was. Battery box took a hit from the front wheel. Almost certainly, some cells were shorted. No smoke. No fire. Ultra safe cells. Had these been anything but A123 Systems Nano-phosphate cells, shorts would have caused a serious fire. No major damage. We will have it fixed in short order. Important to note: Area in front of the bike was CLEARED of ALL PEOPLE. NO ONE was at risk but me. Concrete on both sides of area. Yes, I am an idiot for not wearing a helmet. :-/ |

There was a farmer up by me in Ithica, MI. that exibitioned a V-8 Chevy in a Harley frame back in the 50s. He had a deadman clutch, direct chain drive from the crank to the rear sprocket, and launched the thing from a stand that kept the rear wheel spinning in the air till he got the nerves up to push it forward off the stand. The entire quarter mile was a smoke show as he was never able to get the thing to hook up. Then he got into jet engines and there was a second chapter to his life. |
