Has any one tried to put a sportster exhaust on an XB. Hooker has some step tuned straits and 2 into one's cool stuff | ||

due to exhaust clearance and back pressure issues, I maybe looking at a set of thunderheaders for my XB9SX, I do like the way they look and sound off of my sporty. In black of course. If I go that way, I will post the pic. | ||

I feel like I've seen a setup where someone cut up a thinderheader and monted it in the stock XB muffler location... maybe they'll chime in. I'm not a big fan of thunderheaders - I know folks love them, but we compared a thunderheader to a supertrapp on my 2004 sportster and the thunderheader just plain sucked, lol. Sound was nice, though. | ||

what exactly are you trying to accomplish by putting sportster pipes on your Buell? Are you trying to copy the sound of the sportster? there are a set of pipes made by Bub, for Buell tubers, that will accomplish that, and still give you a clean look. Warning, they are VERY loud, and they do sound EXACTLY like a Harley... You can probably find a set at J&P cycles, or some of the other "Harley" parts warehouses... | ||

Brian, you saw my post about the DHD race bike, right? http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/316094.html The photos I posted showed how they did their custom pipe. I don't think you would end up with a lot ground clearance. I don't know how this would be much different than using a sportster pipe. | ||

How would you get the header/pipe around the frame, with torching your legs off? That tuber exhaust looks like it would be REALLY hot | ||

Subaru WR-x, Audi A4, A6, Quattro, GMC Typhoon, Porsche 959 & Cayenne, Lamoborgini LM002, mmmm all fourwheel drive beasts & I would autocross dirt drive any of them. If Buell had built the dirt bike then I would have that as my next bike. I am too short for the ULY, but I want to run every where a ULY does, without exception. Getting the exhaust up and off the bottom of the bike gets me ULY clearance. And if you saw the pics of my exhaust can, you know why I need the clearance. | ||

I have come to the conclusion no one on this sight has put a sporty exhaust on a XB I dont think ground clearence would be a problem, may be some other problems. Why do I want to know? It would open up a lot of new posabilies. | ||

Some things to keep in mind... The exhaust systems for sportsters (at least all that I can think of) run the pipes below the engine cases, but on the outside of them as well. Also, the rear pipes on the 2:2 systems run to the back of the bike right from the head, so they would be going into the frame on an XB. The rear pipe *might* fit from a 2:1 system. The nice thing about exhaust is that you can bend it however you want. You're not going to get a Sportster exhaust on an XB and have it work or fit well, and it will look like ass. However, with some custom pipes, you could monst a sportster muffler just about anywhere you want to. |
