I would like to lower my final gear ratio but would like to retain belt drive. Are there sprockets available (OEM or aftermarket)that would give me about a 10% reduction? If all else fails, I might consider a chain drive but I really like the belt system. Thanks, Dave | ||

Belt sprockets--stockers--come in 2 rear,61 is US,55 is Euro. Fronts come in 27 and 29, aftermarket has 26,28,and 30 available-call Al..I know the Euro gearing (29/55) required different axle adjuster hardware as I saw it listed in a parts breakdown. | ||

i have been pondering the gear reduction also, i seen on the americansportbike site that the lower 26 tooth gear is "lightweight" is it just fine as far as strength goes? | ||

I think you will find a 26/55 will get you really close to the 10% you are looking for, I have this on my S1. My 1250 and 1203 would not pull 29/55 very easily and had a major effect through out the gears. The 26/55 is not really noticeable in the first two gears. It works really well for me in the mountains allowing me to run second a lot longer in the twisties. I run the light weight 26 and like the idea of the lighter pulley in the unsprung area. With that said I'm not sure that I can really tell the difference. Also the 55 was offered in unpolished or black. Joe | ||

The Euro 29/55 gearing is not really ridable. Almost every German Buellist I know changed it to the American 27/61 gearing,or 27/55. With the 29/55 you don´t need to shift into fifth gear anymore, at most if you like to slow down. The reason why Buell used this gearing in Germany and elsewhere is to pass existing laws. Cyclonmdeuce, Baker makes a 26 tooth pulley from steel, it's lightened with holes and machining, it's called the "Longlife" pulley, so that should be up to the task as far as strenght, as I recall it's 1/2 pound lighter than stock sprocket. | ||

I run the 26 tooth on my M2 and love it. The speedo is a bit off (about 5 mph at 60) |
