Anony...do you have any new estimate on when shipments of the 1125R will start leaving Troy for final their destinations (us)?

surely, your parts distributors have an idea on when they will be suppling BMC. if not, they should......or else whip em with a wet noodle!

Mine was supposed to ship this Friday, the 16th. New info says it's been pushed back to the 21st. If it really ships then, not bad , less than a week... hoping.

I was told mine was shipped last Friday. The dealer told me it could be here by the end of the end of this week (Fri) or by Tuesday next week.

HOWEVER, they cold not give me a VIN number because the dealer network changed how the bikes were being shown on the computer. No specific word re a delay but I'm starting to wonder.

Impatient...

I was initially given a ship date of November 13 but now I'm told that has been moved to December 11th. In time for a Christmas ride???

Anony -

How about letting us know when the first truck-full of 1125s leave? Goin' nuts here.

Sure wish it was here already. In the low 50s this morning, guess I'll roll the Shovelhead outta the garage and ride today.
Supposed to snow next week, bet it ships then...woooo-hooooo it's close.

This is what I was told...
The ship date for my bike has been moved to 12/7/2007. The dealer also got a Memo from H-D/Buell that said they have slowed production down a little. They will also hold inventory for a few weeks before shipping so they can better monitor production.
Hmmm

Any insiders out there? Please let us know what's going on...

This is really pretty typical for new release bikes, they generally like to control the flow so everyone seems to get there bikes at the same time in certain area's. If you live in a secluded area for example you may get yours sooner than if you live in say N.Y.

This keeps production costs consistent and production levels to a good median.

If you all are really wanting bike's before end if November you should have been nicer to Santa! ha just kidding!

Good luck all, look forward to your posts as to how you like the new rides, I am holding out until you guys find all the bugs!!(road demons)

I'll be more than happy to tell you what you're missing.
Didn't get a chance to ride a prototype, but I'm getting one of the first ones in Denver, and with heated grips, I'll be breaking it in no matter the weather. This is shaping up to be a memorable birthday.

Dear Anony,
I am going nuts. I visited my dealer on Saturday and the sales person could not confirm more than one VIN number on the ship list. This has changed from 7 units two or so weeks ago.

I do not expect that you will be able to tell me what gets shipped to my dealer and when. But if you could be so kind to update us on progress toward attaining your expected production pace, I'd be grateful.

You see, I have sat on it, seen it, ridden it at Inside Pass so I am just smitten and deeply affected and I am borderline mentally unstable until I get mine . Any update would be appreciated.
Thanks
Asbjorn

I made it through that wait, so I figure I can make the wait for the 1125 Ulysses. Come on Buell....do it!! Do it!!!

I was told Dec 12th now. My bike is supposed to be one of the "pre-order" bikes that was ordered at the dealer show.

Who here has the earliest confirmed order? Mine is supposedly showing a "plant release" status and I'm trying to qualify the accuracy of the information given to me. Something does not smell right...

Being 2 hours south of ET, and having a dealer show ordered bike, I should be one of the first off the line. If anyone gets theirs tomorrow, then I'll presume that I've been getting a line of sheeyat...
I'll be collecting my deposit and going to a different dealer, if this is the case. Maybe I'll get one in the spring, or wait for the S to come out.

You choose your bikes based on the whims of Harley Distribution?

Interesting.

We're being told they're holding off shipment until there are enough bikes to go around to all dealers at once. Anon can confirm or deny, but it sounds plausible as that's what they're doing with the Rocker as well - making sure they can blanket every dealership with at least one, instead of having a couple "lucky" ones get singled out.

We have nine confirmed bikes thru February. First four are sold. First three are "released to plant" and have ship dates posted as 11/19 (gotta check that one), 11/20 and 11/26. Take the dates as you will, from me or from your dealership...but cut your dealer some slack as this information is ALL the information we have. Don't shoot the messenger. If I could, I'd go to ET in my personal Cummins Ram and pick up as many crates as I could for my customers...but it doesn't work that way. They make the bikes, they say when they're ready for release and everything is right...all we can do is bite our nails and wait for the bikes to be blessed with the "OK to ship" status.

You all need to chill out and not be so anxious. Production has basically just started and they are trying to be careful every step of the way. YOU will ultimately benefit from this.

Josh, you missed my point completely.

I put my deposit down on July 13th...It would have been earlier but nobody at the first 5 HD dealerships I called knew what the he11 an 1125R was. (The exception here is Andy. He's a ways north of me, and will certainly get my business if my deal falls through)
What I was trying to figure out, with my previous post, was the integrity of my dealership. Again, I found an abundance of dealers who were full of crap, and the rest of the dealers no longer sold Buell.

So again, if someone gets their bike tomorrow, and I continue to wait 3 weeks for mine, I'll know that my bike that I put a deposit on, and waited for 4 months for, is under someone else's a$$.
I can admit, and its really a shame, but I do have some issues with trusting the dealership.

The sales people dont have any idea. I asked mine today and he just stared at me.
He swears up and down that it will be here by the end of the month.

No, you'll know of another dealer that placed an order during the dealer meeting but who was higher on Harley Distribution's list based on Pegasus awards, prior sales, etc. Thus my comment above, you are going to base your purchase on the whims of HD.

And sales people don't necessarily know what the owner/sales manager put orders in for at the meeting.

Nobody is going to play "favorites" here. Everybody knows people want this bike, and all the dealers I know of who are selling them will be trying their damndest to fill the orders as quickly as possible. I don't know where you get the idea that "your bike will be under someone else's a$$", that's simply not the way it works.

As I posted above, we have been told that Buell is waiting to a) get the bike right before the first one goes into public hands (THANK YOU!!!), and b) get enough bikes on the docks that they can ship a lot of them at once, to blanket the entire country in one wave of bikes. That way there are no "favorites" and there are no cases of dealers crying "you always did like Dealer X better than us".

Josh pretty much has it nailed - if anyone has a higher priority than another dealer, it'll be one of the dealers with consistent awards and brand loyalty. But again...with the "mass shipment" mentality, the factory is trying to avoid even this factor.

Another factor that I don't think you're aware of is, bike orders are assigned a seven digit order number right from the get-go, and they are assigned ***at the same time*** (with the exception of some "extra" units that pop up as line capacity permits through the year). No dealer can look up anothers' order status. No dealer will ever receive shipment of another dealers' order. "Your" bike will not, under any circumstance, go to another dealer (or "another riders ass"). Yours may not arrive as quickly as another dealers' order (see the Pegasus award clause above)...but their bike will never be "your" order. It just doesn't work that way. Your dealer has your deposit on one of their specific order numbers. Date of deposit has no bearing; orders are assigned by phase (I thru IV) for the year and quantities alotted by sales numbers. Date of deposit only affects which of the bikes coming to that particular dealer goes to you (i.e. third deposit equals third bike arriving).

Take a deep breath and relax. When it's all said and done, it's just a freakin' motorcycle after all. And before you flame me, hop on over to Court in Session and read this:

>>>Nobody is going to play "favorites" here.

As anti-climatic as it may sound . . . that's a deadly accurate statement.

There were a couple parts that were delayed from Buell vendors. Everything will be just fine.

I suppose I should tell you a short tale . . . it got cut from the book because it kinda named names.

In 1998 there was a new bracket for the luggage on the Buell S3-T.

A couple fellows, we'll call them (xxx actually no we won't), had done a lot of work trying to figure out how to improve the latch mechanisms and the 3 devices that attach the bag to the frame mounted on the bike. The big constraint was low production numbers and a very low tooling budget.

One of the challenges, and I had the forethought to save a white paper written about the process by an outside consulting firm that had been brought in, was to improve the bag mounting catch to frame interface.

The first solution was to place a small spot welded "dot", a small deposit, on the frame made of metal rod. When the bag securing "finger" was rotated into position and drawn tight, the "spot" would prevent it from backing off and releasing the catch unintentionally.

It was a pretty good solution but it didn't take much accelerated testing to reveal that under repeated road vibration the little welded on "tit" would break off.

Marter sminds went back to work.

The next solution was typically "Buellegant" in that it involved nothing more than taking a die grinder and grinding a small depression, technically changing the solution from a pimple to a dimple, in the rod. When the rotating "finger" was drawn into the depression it stayed. The solution was cheap, easy and effective. . . the holy grail of engineering.

Pressure, just as now, was great to get these bikes shipped. There was a good supply of the early "pimple" pieces at East Troy as the first bikes rolled off the line and were sent to the "hospital" (a holding area for bikes awaiting completion) awaiting the "dimple" frames.

In comes a HD exec who has a buddy who's a high faluting dealer who has a customer waiting on an S3-T.

He sees the bikes and wants to know why his buddies hadn't shipped.

The engineer explains and concludes by telling him the "right" part will be there in less than 48 hours.

The Execudroid becomes irritated and arrogant and "orders" the Buell engineer to crate and ship the bike.

The Buell engineer refuses.

It gets heated, egos are drawn from their holsters, tempers flair and heels are dug in.

As the Exec becomes more adamant the Buell Engineer blurts out . . . "nothing leaves here until it's perfect", takes the keys, the build sheet for the bike and goes and locks them in his drawer.

That always impressed me. The idea of a guy who'd never see that bike again or be accountable was willing to essentially lay on the tracks to keep something that did not represent the product he'd worked hard to engineer leave the door.

Now you'd think that type of thinking and action would have been diluted as Buell grew. . . in fact, just the opposite is true.

While you may be impatient waiting for your 1125r (I damn sure would be) there may be some comfort in knowing that under no circumstances is that motorcycle leaving the East door of Buell Drive until each and every person from engineer to the crating folks give it a "green light" (yes, they use real green lights).

Anyone . . that's ANYONE at Buell can "yellow light" any process. The process stops in it's tracks until the person with the yellow has had their concerns addressed and the process continues.

Each and every person at Buell "OWNS" the 1125r. Tony Stefanelli will make the call and the 1125r does not leave until he says it does. No one, including Jon Flickinger, Erik Buell or Jim McCasland can override that.

You don't know it yet . . . but you are getting a much better motorcycle than you think you ordered.

If you are ever in the area of East Troy, let me know a few days in advance and I'll walk you around and introduce you to guys like Lars and Mike Juliano. You see if you can convince them to ship a "pretty good" motorcycle. . . ain't happening.

Court

P.S. - you may or may not like hearing that I am all over at least one Team Member about one element of the 1125r. In typical Buell fashion, rather than get told to go mind my own business I got concise answers and a time line. I've GOT to stop being a squeaky wheel. : ) nahhhhh

I must be coming off as an a$$hole... I've always suspected, but never see my self from the outside... Perhaps the emotion of my post was more readily understood than the message.

My last words on the topic:
Some have said 1 buell for every dealer... I supposedly have the 1st to arrive at 1 particular dealer. I'm relatively close to ET and it should only take a day or so to... ahh what the heck...I give up

I think I do better as a lurker. Thanks guys for entertaining my post. Happy Thanksgiving.

Is there any connecton between delayed deliveries and H-D plant closures during November?

We hear of plant closures and worker lay-offs here, but no details on which plants are affected or whether this in any way affects Buell production as well.
