I had a softail, and an XR650 when the Uly came out in 06. After reading about it, then falling in love with it, I promised the wife I would sell the softail if I could buy the Uly. After farkling the sheit out of my Uly for a year, I loved it even more. But I just couldn't bring myself to part with the softail. But I did make a deal with the wife. Bust a deal, face the wheel. Sold the XR last night. |

Treadmarks Dude whats up? You sold a hooligan XR and kept the softail I have seen this disease before, It usually does not afflict intelligent people. What happened ? did you have a crash and land on your beannie 1/2 helmet. Tell us you are OK and will recover from your condition soon. |

Treadmarks Dude whats up? You sold a hooligan XR and kept the softail HAAA, Funny sheit. Like I said, I told the wife I would sell the softail if she let me buy the Uly. A year later with over 3k in extras on the bike, I broke the deal. In bartertown (Mad max movie-Thunderdome) they say if "bust a deal, you face the wheel." I think I got off lucky, I was supposed to sell the softail. I can build a better supermoto next time, alot cheaper than the softail. I will miss the xr though... |

Maybe I missed it but Terry...where did you get those lights? The lights came from baja designs, they are soltek fuego desert race lights and can be had in black or chrome in hid or halogen. I chose halogen and like it. Seems like our stators like the power they produce to be used, not cooked off in the regulator. In Miami, the land of the rudest drivers, I use 130 watt bulbs in both lights. But traveling on the road where nice people live, I use a 55 watt in the low beam with the fluted reflector. The Hi beam is a true spot light and at 130 watts, is quite painfull to look at. Right now I am 800 miles into a 1800 mile back road ride with the wife and all three trunks fully loaded. We crossed the entire state east to west on dirt/gravel roads, some at night. That is where the DeathRay really shines. I would never consider a trip like this with the factory lighting. While we were bagging the gravel roads at 80 mph (Still daylight) with bright lights on, a grass hopper or something hit the bright light. The guts went everywhere. I pulled over right away to check it out and by the time I made it to the front of the bike, it's remaining body parts were grilled to the light lense. I had to use a razor blade to scrape it's roasted remains from the glass lense. Thats a tough light, metal body with glass lense and metal reflectors. |

Is that a blower on the Softail? Why yes it is. A Rotrex unit, 160,000 rpm and 10 pounds of booooost. Theres nuthin like the grin on your face when you hear the sound of a boosted twincam through drag pipes while sideways in second. |

okay okay, I was wondering too why the loss of the 450 over the softail. the blower clenches it, bye bye xr. |
