trying to find some old music i had on LP years ago. Can't find it on LP anymore, much less CD. Anybody know a source for a 1960 released album by the Viscounts or a 1959 album by Dave Brubeck. Both have some great music and would like to find something without downloading off a website. A company that has the album and can copy them to cd for a fee or whatever. The Viscounts had the songs "I cover the Waterfront" and "Harlem Nocturne". The Dave Brubeck album is best known for "High Five". I've seen some posts here by some pretty serious music guys, so asking for some starting point. The three vintage record stores here can find the dave brubeck, but the Viscounts is questionable. |

I love Harlem Nocturne done right. Many bands fluff it up and make it sound pop-like and major (yuck!). This one is really nice! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nz4npWqE3Q&feature =related |

Waaay cool. Brubeck is the MAN on odd time signatures yet memorable tunes! Our WSMC track announcer, Dave Koenig, has taken to playing "Take Five" as his sign-off tune every Sunday night and I've had people who weren't even into jazz or music in any way commenting on how suddenly they'd remembered the tune. Brubeck is an amazing character, musician and composer AND it's hard to think of Brubeck without hearing his arrangement of Paul Desmond's Take Five in my mind. |
