Yep. I thought that I had an old brochure that had a different font for Westwind, but couldn't find it. |

It's glaringly obvious that Rocketman has never ridden a horse. Nor has he taken time to consider the similarities of riding horseback in America's old West to saddling up on a motorcycle and heading out for adventure today. If we have to explain, you won't understand. And that in itself explains a LOT. |

Yea, but did you ever drag a peg on a horse? |

Other than my license plate I havent seen "West Wind" on an RS. I thought it was an internal designation? |

I like that sculpture in Winchester, looks like a natural meeting place for the Buellers. (right click, save as) |

quote:When Erik Buell founded his motorcycle company 25 years ago, he chose a winged horse as its icon. What image could make a more appropriate crest for a sportbike company? I can understand why the decision was made to use a numeric designation and call attention to this machine’s new Helicon engine, but with the 1125R, Buell has created a motorcycle worthy of the name Pegasus.

By the way horses do lean in a corner I have had several low sides while making a sharp turn. |

I have a horse, he is a Mustang. When it rains he loves it, he, wheelies, runs, jumps, spins, slides, leans into corners, throws mud all over. Damn if he doesn't remind me of my dirt bike! |

It's glaringly obvious that Rocketman has never ridden a horse. I might not like the Pegasus logo associated to Buell, but I don't have to tell porkies about riding a horse. As a matter of fact it was a rather tall and renowned for being somewhat 'frisky' mongrel if I remember the stable girls words, and the beast got into a bit of a gallop. So much so that my arse was higher than my head more often than my head was higher than my arse. I found the whole experience rather archaic and not in the least bit romantic. But hey, you can walk the length and breadth of England in a couple of weeks. Just ask the Romans and the Vikings. Not the Spanish though. We defeated them at sea long before they could hoof it on land! We Brit's don't need no stinking horses. Now please someone, explain to me where I might bag a ride on a winged quadruped. Imagine that. Flying horse shit. At least bull shit don't fly, lol! Oh wait. I may have found the connection............ Next time try leaving the stable and get on top of the horsee. Then shift your weight onto the stirrups and let the beast run, not just gallop. Stay on the horsee. As you note, it's a fair height from which to fall, especially at speed. My ribs ache terribly just thinking about it. |

Sounds like great advice to me Blake, but the stable girl gave me better advice. Especially since she never told me to stand up, and I didn't think for a moment to do so. She said, after telling me I'd copped for the meanest horsee, if it gets away from you don't let its head get down. Which of course, it did. All I remember where her words, "if it does you have to pull its head back with the reins". Have you ever tried that whilst your backside is higher than your head going forward at 25 mph! It was only the fear of loosing my life that had me pull those reins so hard! Rocket scared of quads - the four legged ones |
