, Just curious, as I've been slightly out of touch with the Buell community the last couple of years. Have they solved the dealer problems and the typical problems associated with the 1998ish time period bikes? Yes, No or about the same? What would I expect to get for a 1998 S3T in excellent condition with about 25,000 miles on the odometer? Cheers, -SD: |

Good Lord, son! You've got an orbital observation satellite in your living room. I don't even know where to start. |

You almost missed the XB years. We are now moving into the high HP helicon water head years. |

Jim, where you been? Good to hear you. It's been so long even I've mellowed, or is that ripened! Rocket |

Hey Rocket, Hey guys, I was one of the first here regardless what my profile says. The last time I was really into all this, Ferris was taking the newly released Uly on a cross country trip or something ... that's where my time machine left off. <grin> -SD: |

Seems like you missed about 10 years. Did you leave off about here? <http://web.archive.org/web/19980202134458/www.buel l.com/thebikes.html> Is that cool or what? The entire Buell web history is on that site. Lots of old stuff to dig thru. |

Hey Jim, Good to see you out and about. You still out in AZ? Ferris' roadtrip was only a few years ago, LOL. Bart |

Hey Bart, Yep, still kicking. Don't ride much anymore due to the back injury. I am taking the lumbar epidural injection once again, expensive little pup(s) too. I had to make a small crane to lift the damn telescopes. I thought someone would jump in here and tell me what a fair price on the S3T would be. Sure hate to sell her as that was one of my favorite rides … Oh’well. So I figured this was the best place to ask and stir the pot. <grin> Last time I was involved here everyone was arguing and into politics instead of Buell(s). Hope you are healthy once again? Cheers, -SD: |

Well Jim, Blake pulled me into line, and I avoid the political fist fights. To be fair, I had gone off the Buell rails a little. Well, quite a lot actually. So I've made an effort to study the new era of Buells this summer, and I have had my eyes opened somewhat. Next year I will be testing the newer Buells, including the 1125R, but this year I concentrated on getting some exotica out of my system first. Like the Brutale 910, a boring less engaging ride than I had expected from a ballistic surface missile. The best bike I've ridden in ages is the one that requires a healthy input of alpha male at the helm. The S1W is doing it for me once again these days, and that's great as more of my friends come off superbikes on to Hypermotards and KTM's etc. Keep the S3T. Concentrate on getting your back working. I too have had a rough two years, up until this past January, where I could not walk more than a few feet without clinging to something or stand for more than a minute without support. Turns out, after a cat scan, where all those chords come out of the sacroiliac joint at the bottom of the spine, my chords are a little tight in there which causes a problem. Remarkably I'm told, I woke up one morning last January and felt a lot different, and it seems I've recovered - which shouldn't happen according to the neurologist. Within hours I was able to walk and stand normally, all be it I get a small amount of back ache. More if I walk a distance depending on other things like how hard or not I've worked previously, but overall I'm still ok. So Jim, I want you to know this much. One of the most comfortable seats I sat on during those past two years of back ache was my Buell, or the seats in a Saab 9000 Aero model. Oddly maybe, but riding the Buell seemed to place me with no pressure on my back and my mind would not even know I had a back problem, until I got off. So keep the S3 at least until you've tried Rocket's recommended therapy. Get well dude. I'll be calling one day, and you'll be no good to me on a Zimmer frame, lol. Rocket |
