I have an 06 Uly that dropped its battery. It will still charge, but throws a trouble code on the tender. Is there a cross reference number for the HD batteries? I really don't want to throw any more money at the Stealers. I was thinking of picking one up at O'Riley's or NAPA. I lost the battery on my '06 the other day too. Went to start it and nothing. Dead as a door nail and won't take a charge. | ||

I have kept mine on a tender and was surprised when it died. I discovered that it wasn't the battery's fault. I lost the stator and regulator. | ||

o all you guys use a battery tender? I don't have one but sears is right up the road. Maybe a good idea for winter. | ||

So, to back up the battery story. I did keep this battery on the tender like FTBSTRD does. The day the battery died, I was letting the bike warm up and I could hear the bike stumbling. It was an odd stumble right at the lowest point of the revolution. After leaving the house I made a left hand lean and noticed the check engine light come on. It went off just as fast. I rode it about 2 more miles and then on a flat, level fast stretch of road it came on again. This time I turned around and headed straight to the house. I left the bike running while I opened the garage and then I rode it in. I shut the bike down. I then hit the start switch and got nothing but clicks..... This is when I put it on the tender and within minutes it threw the red trouble code. I am curious, I have never had a battery go down as quickly as it did on the Buell. I have had bikes all my life and typically average 4 years on a battery. I am curious, I have been following FTBSTRD's Stator thread and how the voltage is over what can be safely handled by the electrical components. I ride with both my high and low beams on at the same time during the day, is it possible that putting that type of load on the system coupled with overvoltage induced by the higher revs could be killing these batteries or better yet the charging system as a whole? | ||

Well, add me to the group! My dead battery in the Quickboard section turned out to be a VR/Stator. I put the new battery in today and ran 80 miles and the check engine light came on, then the gauges went out and a dead battery. I charged the battery per a jumper cable connection with a car for 30 minutes and was able to get back home the 80 miles. At the very end of the trip home tonight, the gauges were pulsating and the headlights were dimming and pulsating. I pulled it in the garage and the bike sputtered and died. Now everything is dead. 06 Uly 15,600 miles Build date: Jan/2006 My biggest conern is how reliable will my bike be after 4/2008 when it is out of warranty? Did, I mention this will add sheet 10 and 11 to my current warranty replacement work. I currently have over half the value of the bike in warranty repair by the dealer. I love the Uly, but I can't afford to keep a bike that total cost of ownership is more than the value of the bike. That is crazy! | ||

I just got the ctek with a pulse technology thats supposed to desulfate the battery while it tends it. I will be using it weekly and will keep you all advised. | ||

Cool, I haven't heard of that tender before. Send a link to the product and keep us posted. btw, still waiting on parts for my Uly and it is at the shop in HD Prison until the mothership will rescue it. |
