Hi all Just picked up an 04 xb12s. Still has the oem dunlops on it and I need to replace them. From what I've read the pirelli diablos replaced dunlops as oem tires because they fixed the standup under breaking in corners. I took my first long ride on the bike today and experienced this first hand. While I'm not in the habit of trail breaking at all it would be nice to have decent control on the breaks if a deer or other unknown pops up midcorner. Is the pirellis profile pretty triangular? The dunlop that came with the bike was pretty squared off but it looked like it was more of a rounded tire to begin with. Like everybody else I want a long lasting tire that still preforms. Could you compare the profile of the pirelli to say the pilot power or avon azaro? I really just need a frame of reference. Thanks for any help, I've been scouring the tire threads but havn't seen this issue addressed. |

wow you really need to replace those. I have used the Dunlop 208s the last two changes and I too want a longer lasting tire. The 208s stick like crazy glue but I only get about 2500 miles down the middle (I do use all the tire, as my HRH brothers can attest) and when they start to square you've got about 100-200 miles till belt shows. |

Well, I don't know much about tire profiles, but since no one else chimed in here, I suppose I'll add my info about sport touring tires in general. I had D208's on my bike when I got it, and they were not for me. I then went to BT021's, the sport touring tire in Bridgestone's Battlax lineup. It was a nice tire. I never had problems with traction, but the only lasted 5-6k miles, a little less than I was hoping for. Now I have the Diablo Strada's. These things have GREAT traction! And they should last about as long as any other sport touring tire you can find. I highly recommend the Diablo Strada's. Incase you didn't read my "Sport Touring Tires" thread, to give you an idea of the Strada's traction, I was able to go through a corner at Mid Ohio at full lean (dragging my knee, toe, and various hard parts) at full throttle at the same time. And the tires stuck like glue. I'm sure all out racing or extremely aggressive riding you might run out of traction with the Strada's, but I never did during my day at mid-ohio, or my weekend in West Virginia (And out in WV I was dragging my knee with full camping gear loaded on the back) |

Ok-so I will be ready for a new set of tires on my XB12Ss in the spring -does anybody know if the strada's cure the stand-up as well as the scorpions? and which tire lasts longer the strada or scorpion or is the difference a coin toss? ( in mileage and handling) they cost about the same) thx |
